Good walkthrough in your video!

Just experienced this coolant hose failure today. My 2017 S popped a warning about low coolant and refill immediately. Added about half a gallon of distilled water to head directly home. Water temp was fluctuating between 203 and 250, probably because of air in the system. Then got a message in red to park and let engine cool.
Did some troubleshooting in the garage and found this split hose. Upon removal the hose is so brittle it breaks when slightly flexed. This is going to be an issue on pretty much every Macan.

New custom aluminum replacement fittings are done! Will install these along with reinforced silicone hoses, and a new push-on fitting for the tank side.
Using OEM plastic pieces is just asking for trouble again.

@ TET GT3, did you fab those AL fittings or source them locally? Possibility of production for resale?

I designed them and had them made. They replicate dimensions of the original plastic fittings, but I sized the barb end to fit 1/4" coolant hose.

Had 5 pairs made and only need 1...

I would take a set if available.

...as would I if you've installed yours and they didn't leak. What did you use for O-rings?

I used Viton o-rings, size 111 matched the originals. I bought a bag of 50 and will include with the fittings. Waiting for Porsche coolant to come in so I can fire it up.

Will get some pics soon.

Pictures of the aluminum fittings installed, with 1/4" i.d. coolant hose.Just enough clearance to use the original bolts and fit a socket. This is not a job you want to tackle with the intake manifold still on.

Interesting that we had same idea with aluminum fittings... I also copied the design and with a friend’s help we were able to manufacture 4 of them, which we installed successfully in our Macan (using EPDM o-rings). These were precision manufactured in CNC. I installed over the weekend and so far I had driven over 200 miles successfully. We do plan to offer these later as part of a kit with hose dual-clamps pictured to route the vent hose.

Default Cool work

We all should be thankful to have enthusiasts with evident engineering creativity and skills willing to help the Macan community deal with inevitable “misjudgments” by Porsche likely either a human error or bean counters intent on profit margins.

Nice work, we're thinking along the same lines. Not a lot of room down there and the fittings come out quite thin, so I had the fittings machined from 7075 aluminum for additional strength over typical 6061.

The plastic parts are cheap and light, which makes sense why they're used on modern cars. But not good for long term durability, so this "upgrade" should be trouble free for the life of the car.

Last piece of the puzzle was obtaining an OEM type fitting for the bleed valve, to replace the original 90 degree piece since the hose now come from the front.

Can you share the source for the straight hose fitting to the vent valve? Also, interested in parting with a pair of your AL fittings? PM me if you prefer.
