Default No way to play CDs though a direct USB connection?

Evidently, newer Macans have no CD players understandably. It's possible to of course load music into the jukebox or play from a USB stick. Bluetooth connectivity is not an option here for reasons I won''t go into.
It is possible to use a portable CD player with a USB output connection to play CDs directly or is this so old-fashioned to be of no interest any more to be supported? And I take it there is no 3.5 mm (1/8") aux jack, either, correct?

If you could make a cd player work, where would you put it, maybe on the dashboard? I think the pain of making this work, is harder than copying to a jump drive or mp3, ipod, etc Although you could go to an audio store and get a cd player put in the trunk, the kind that you load 10 cds, shuffler style.

I just trading in my work car, and the sales rep handed me a CD, it was in the car when i bought it 8 years ago, from the original owner, never new it was in there. lol

You can always pickup a USB to 3.5mm jack adapter. But the 3.5mm and CD's are dead technology. Best to move on the SD cards to USB thumb drive. I have SD cards in my cars. You can also copy music to the internal jukebox.

Took my MIL car shopping at the end of last year. She was distressed that there was no car with a cassette player.... I just wanted to use an ice pick on myself at that point. it would have been less painful.

My mother was playing 8 tracks over the holidays, I was afraid to touch the cassette, as it would crumble into dust, and I would have to scour the internet for Nat King Cole christmas jingles on 8 track. lol

OK, cassettes and 8-track, yes, that's really, really ancient technology. I guess transferring CDs with Audacity or some other ripping program and creating MP3s on a thumb drive is probably the easiest. The new Macans have I think 40 GB of storage in the Jukebox, but if you can just create USB thumb drives and the system is clever enough to do the indexing and all, that'd be easier and safer than hauling around a bulky unit and CDs that might melt in the heat.

Why not rip the music onto an SD card and use that?

Unfortunately, so are CDs (been around since 1982ish). There is plenty of CD ripping software out there that you can do yourself. Heck, I just bought a new laptop and desktop. Neither have a CD/DVD slot anymore when you can download an entire album in seconds. I buy all my music from Amazon then download the files.

...but I like having my CDs slide back and forth across my leather-covered dash, scratching it all up (ouch!), as I go whipping
my Macan around corners!!!

That won't work since USB in the car is "Digital" and the 3.5mm is "Analog". If you know of one with a built in A to D converter that is not Porsche luxury tax priced please post a link.

OK, it's easy enough to use Windows Media Player to rip a CD to a folder with the artist, album, and tracks, and really does take just a few minutes per album. Now, if I want to upload that entire album into the jukebox, it looks I just tell the jukebox to pick up that entire folder from the USB thumb drive or I guess one can choose individual tracks, if desired, according to:
Once uploaded, it looks like all the album and track information is retained and can be readily searched for. Cool!

The video claims the jukebox for all 2014 models is 40 GB in size, which should be enough space for around 500 albums. Is that still the case on 2019-2020 models? Or did they shrink it down to just 10 GB (which for a similar bitrate of 256 would mean "only" around 125 albums)?

That said, can you plug in and play tracks directly using with a USB drive or an SD card without having to upload the files to the jukebox? And, BTW, where in the world is the SD slot located?

Thanks again for the advice!

I have a 2020 and I've seen zero references to any internal storage jukebox system unless I missed it in the options. I have the BOSE option as well. There is a SD card slot and multiple USB-C ports for you to plug into however.

The jukebox has been deleted? Interesting. Will try to find out more about this when I hopefully get to the dealership later this week. I take it you can just access the file structure on the USB thumb drive or SD card to pick what to play. The SD card slot, where is it exactly?

He’s correct. The jukebox is gone for 2020, possibly for 2019.

SD and USB-C are inside the centre arm rest.

Drive must be no larger than 128GB.

This and other specs will be in the manual.

Being a bit geeky... if the device accepts 128GB, it will accept larger drives. The only way it won't is if Porsche set an artificial limit (doubtful). Curious to see other 19/20s report on drive sizes.
