Default Goodwood ship

If your car is on the Goodwood it has sailed from RI and is due in Jacksonville on 5/22 at 0400. Some should be on the way to dealers next week.

Well here’s mine. Arrived last month and have a whopping 150mi on her. Drives great as compared to my outgoing S. Sound with the PSE on is nice and growly with some pops and crackles I’m overrun but kind of muted with it off. Night and day handling and ride wise with the PASM/air suspension.

I test drove a GTS this afternoon for an hour. It was equipped with 20" wheels and some other light equipment. I have to say that I was really impressed with it. I'm not fan of loud exhaust systems (I know - get off Rennlist) and the PSE on this vehicle is perfect for me when it is off and fine when it turned on. The ride is perfect - a hint of float in with the air suspension in comfort which is eliminated in sport and the firmest setting. Response and acceleration is brisk in sport mode but a bit dull in the normal mode. The car I drove didn't have sport chrono but I'd get that option for the individual mode so I don't have to press 3 buttons to get "sport", comfort suspension and PSE off every time I start the car.

The only disappointment was the brakes. I had read about the "groan" or "creak" when coming to a stop on the Cayenne forum and didn't think about it at the start of my test drive but it became apparent to me that the Macan has the same "problem" or as Porsche puts it "characteristic". According to the dealer, Porsche has no plans to fix this problem so anyone who is considering the Macan should make sure they can live with it - something I am pondering right now.

I have been reading this and the macan.com forum for years and yours is about the first disappointment I have run across. Most brake complaints center on the expense of maintenance.

I don’t know if the problem has existed for years but it exists now on Macan GTS I drove and the 9YO Cayenne. Would it stop me from buying the vehicle? Probably not but what isn’t often not noticeable on a short test drive can become an annoyance once you have been listening it for a while. So, I point it out for information.

Is the brake issue with coated brakes, not sure of the name, or with regular brakes?

On the Cayenne, forum members are reporting the problem with the black calliper brakes. The 2020 Macan GTS I drove on Friday had red callipers.

For what it’s worth, the GTS makes the grinding noise as you come to a final stop. I noticed today our 2018 Honda Accord makes a slightly quieter but the same sound when you release the brakes to start moving. It’s not a deal breaker but some people have been really put off by the noise.

Interesting. I’m well aware of the chronic noise problems with the PSCB (white calipers) on the new 9Y0 Cayennes, but had not heard of excessive noise problems on the other brakes (except occasional random complaints of squealing which has been with Porsche forever and is basically considered ‘normal’).

Default New GTS.

Ordered January and took delivery yesterday. Have driven just over 100 miles and it seems great. Coming from an S the sound is great, air suspension is a dream and power delivery and PDK mapping is on the mark.
