Default Missing part on a new car

Just got a call from my dealer saying that he has received my 2020 Macan S. However he mentioned that a part is missing and he needs to get it shipped from the factory in Germany. Is this normal? He also mentioned they rushed the shipment and hence that part might be missing. He said without that part I can’t drive it.

Just a random part? Did the dealer explain to you what the part is and did?

You had best talk to Siberian, our sled dog owner. He is no doubt an expert on harnesses.

Obviously a missing part on a newly delivered vehicle is not normal. The vehicle was driven on and off the car transporter, so it can run without this '"harness". Your situation seems very odd.

Maybe it's an internal connection, such as to lights, seat movement, etc. and not related to the ability to be driven? In any case, a QA failure.

It seems the entry and drive actuator is faulty. They have to take apart the door to fix it.

Good call Mr. WWahl!

Unfortunately we don't ship to the lower 48s....

That's annoying. As BOPE said, they drove your car on/off the transport so it is clearly able to be driven without this harness - therefore I'll give some credit to the dealership for noticing and working to resolve it.

But what the heck is an entry and drive actuator in the door? The electronics (and associated wiring harness) that detect your key?

Theres an acutator to unlock/lock the door. Maybe the selinoid needs to be replaced or the cabling.
