Autozone currently has a promotion that is giving a $10 mail in rebate on 5 qts of Mobil 1 thru 5/27/19.
Get this- My local AZ price matched Walmart on a 5 qt jug of Mobil 0W-40 at $25.47 and threw in the $10 rebate, i.e.that nets out at 5 qts of the good stuff at $3.39/qt out the door.
My local Walmart sells 1 qt bottles of Mobil 1 for $8.18, I don't get why the 5 qt. jugs are so much cheaper. If you buy 2 jugs of the oil Walmart ships it 2 days for free.

There are so many better oils out there than M1, calling it the good stuff is kind of funny. If you feel you need an A40 approved oil, switch to Motul 8100 xcess 5W/40 that holds up much better (proven by UOA) and has more ZDDP in it, especially if you're trying to follow the recommended oil change intervals in the manual which are probably double what they should be. I've seen the additive package in M1 break down in as few as 3,500 miles showing a much lower viscosity index than what it was when installed.
If you don't care about A40 approval, look at Driven DI40, specifically formulated for DFI engines.
If the car is leased, then you won't want to pay the difference, but if it's owned and you plan to keep it for 150,000 miles or more, then use something other than Mobil 1.

Another great oil is LiquiMoly. My independent Porsche shop uses it exclusively. They also have a Porsche Boxster set up for racing and are pretty successful with it. LiquiMoly is recommended for Porsche (A40), BMW, Mercedes Benz and VW.

I recently found out that Advanced Auto and WalMart give discounts to vets. This is usually 10% of the bill. Pays my taxes....

If Porsche recommends Mobil One, you can be assured that you will get plenty of miles out of your engine following their directives.

Not using Porsche approved oils and parts is risky for your waranty. If an engine fault happens, particularly under warranty, you have just undermined yourself. Porsche can and will use that against you.

If I had a vehicle under warranty, that's the one I'd be using until it expired, and then I'd switch to the Driven DT40 or DI40 lubricants that also increase the Zinc, Phosphorous, and Moly.
