That's pretty thorough. Is all that cleaning and reconditioning of seals, etc. part of the major service or is it this particular shop?

Also what is used for:
- Lubrication / reconditioning of door seals, steering shaft seal, etc.
- Lubrication of hinges
- Lubrication of sunroof rails

Pretty sweet video, thanks for sharing

That particular tech from Loeber in Chicago Illinois likes to do all that.

Just out of curiosity, how much would this 40,000 major service cost, including parts?

Done at the dealer it's going to be fairly expensive. What do they charge these days...between 175-200$ per hour...depending on the area.
You can try asking the tech on YouTube, however he might not be able to answer publicly. I believe Youtube allows you to send him a private message or email. See if that helps to get some answers...

That's not bad for what you get with that service. If I buy a used Porsche, would be nice to have that man do that for my car. It looks like he knows what he's doing.

Of course, I'm sure you need to change the engine oil more often than that.

My dealer is $310 for oil change, $660 for spark plugs, $600 for PDK service and $200 for inspection. So about $1800

Ouch! How often do you have the oil changed?

Every year, or 10K miles. I go to some Porsche specialists in the area for all my service, but if I was to go this route, I'd do oil changes at a trusted indie, and then just do the major servicing (40K, 60K, etc.) at the dealer.

After paying for each service once, I quickly learned to DIY it all. Bought all the parts from FCP euro with a guarantee so now the services just cost shipping. Car now has 100,000 miles so saved myself a bunch of $

Are all Porsche techs required to do everything in video at 40,000 miles or is this tech unique in what he does?

It depends on the tech. Technically there's a check list part of the service that the technician needs to go through. Most techs will probably just mark it on the paper without actually doing it. As bad as it sounds,it is unfortunately the truth...
This tech seems to be one of the good guys. I wouldn't mind paying for this service if my car would be taken care of like in this video...

My oil light just came up on the Macan. I called to book a service appointment.
  • Oil and filter change service with multi-point inspection is $490+tax due once a year or 15000km
  • Major maintenance service includes the oil and filter change, cabin air filter, engine air filter, brake fluid, spark plugs, PDK transmission fluid replacement. Due every 4 years or 60000km $2850+tax
I have a call into my indy for comparison.
The above is spark plug, not plugs and coils, like the 997.

That is a ridiculous price! I bet you the Indy will do it for less than half!
