I chose the black 20" RS Spyders because they are unique to the GTS, I felt the black matched the GTS trim and emblems the best, 20" tires are less expensive and ride smoother, and they were no extra charge. I do regret the cleaning of them though.

My original selection were platinum Sport Classics. I just decided not to spend extra money on them and I was taking delivery during winter so I wanted 20" all seasons. Then I switched to the Sport Designs but I just didn't see the bright silver color fit my build at all so I switched to the Spyders. I could have had the Sport Designs powder coated but that would be at least $1500.

My ideal wheel would have been 20" Sport Designs in black or 20" Sport Classics in satin or black. I like the aggressive meaty tire look that the 20" black Spyders give more than then low profile luxury SUV look that the black 21" SCs give.

What if there is no price difference?
like someone wants to do straight trade with your spyder to his sport classic.

That's a real toss up. I'm not a fan of the silver lip on the black SCs making the tire look very thin. But I really hate cleaning the satin black Spyders. For me, having the taller side walls and all seasons of a 20" wheel makes more sense for where I live and drive.

It's really a personal preference and you aren't wrong going with either.

The 20" Black Spyder wheels are indeed a bitch to keep clean, but I found the difference in ride between the 21" versus 20" wheels to be pretty dramatic.
20" wheels are a better performance fit for the Macan, IMO. Also not a fan of the polished edge of the 21" SC rims.

I don't like black wheels - the detail gets lost in the dark wheel wells, however, in looking at the pictures of these Macans with only body color and black trim, I can't think of another wheel color that would actually look good. Regarding cleaning, if you happen to have PCCB brakes, cleaning is a non issue. If you don't then get the ones that are easier to clean with fewer nooks and crannies.

I prefer the look of the Sport Classics.

If Macan Sport Designs are like the 911's , they are a pain to clean as well. I have them as a spare set. I was thinking of making them black and wondered if they would clean easier with a smoother finish. I vote the Spyders on your car.

I ordered our carmine red GTS with platinum Sport Classics and really love the look of them with this color. Ease of cleaning was another consideration when ordering, plus I wanted summer tires on the 21's since I'll run a dedicated 20" snow tire set up for winter.

That said, I think the black RS Spyder wheels look much better than SC's on a Viper Green GTS. I don't care for the polished lip on the black SC's.

IMO I prefer the looks of the GTS-specific black spyders on that vehicle versus the sport classics.

As far as cleaning that has been mentioned regarding the more complex design of the spyders, in between washes I've started using a dry Swiffer type duster on the plastic extendable handle they make for them. I occasionally just quickly use that to dust them off and the design gets in and out of the wheel design easily. It gets most of the areas cleaned off. The all plastic design guards against any scratching. You can even get to most of the brake calipers too. I just replace the duster part every couple of cleanings when its really dirty....cheap and effective. (all of this assuming you haven't driven it in the rain...once the brake dust is wet you can't just dust it off at that point, a full wash is necessary)

When I do wash them, I use a great wheel brush that was recommended and used for motorcycle wheels. Gets everything spotless, brake calipers and inside the wheel barrels too.

20" Spyder for me. IMHO 20" looks better than 21". But I am a form follows function guy with wheels and tires. I always prefer a smaller wheel and meatier tire given the choice. 20" will have a better ride, better pothole resistance, and probably perform better overall with lighter overall weight especially if speced with summers. I also prefer monotone wheels and dislike any two tone wheels. But I have to agree, the black Spyder is the most challenging wheel I have ever cleaned!

We have the Sport Classics painted body color and I think they look fantastic. As others have mentioned, they're very easy to clean.

RS Spyders for me; I'm a big fan of mesh wheels and have them on the Macan, the 993 and the Miata.

BBS CH-R wheels would be a good alternative if having an all-black wheel is too dark: https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...-metallic.html
