Default Oil drain plug

I am getting ready to change my oil in my 2018 Macan S and was wondering about the oil drain plug. Is the oil drain plug going to be plastic or metal? I’ve read somewhere that the oil drain plug was plastic which takes a special tool, but that could of been on earlier models and on a base model, not sure. I guess I could take the panel off and look.......

I believe it's plastic on the 2.0l engine, metal on all the rest.

Get a Mityvac oil evacuator, and stop dealing with splash pans and drain plugs. Use it on my Mercedes C300 all the time. Used at my Audi dealership all the time.

This would only work on the 2.0 base engine. The V6s have no dipstick tubes to extract the oil out of. On the V6s, you have to remove the bottom engine shield to get to the oil filter anyways.

It's a metal plug, 8mm hex. You will need a 36mm socket to remove the oil filter housing. This one worked great and it's a 3/8" drive:
