Default Track/racing pads for Macan S?

I recently made the decision to sell my 997 and get a better family car in the Macan S, but one thing I don't want to give up is track days. I'm assuming stock pads will not hold up to an entire day or weekend of HPDE, so are there any known track pads for this car? Some Googling has yielded no results.

Anyone have experience on track? I mean more than a lap or two for kicks.

Can't help you with track pads but suggest you check with various tracks and clubs before getting your heart set on tracking the Macan. Sadly, many don't allow SUV's/CUV's on track. I know for a fact VIR is one of them.

Good point! I haven't found any information indicating any of the Northern California tracks have an SUV ban. Thunderhill has held at least one Jeep sponsored event. I certainly hope Laguna Seca isn't one of them! But I'll take any one of the three (Sonoma being the other).

You can get Ferodo DS2500 pads for the front if you have a Macan turbo or GTS. https://www.zeckhausen.com/catalog/i...5996_7223_7225

Or Porterfield R4-S front and rear.

Whether they let you onto a track is another question. FWIW, I once asked if I could bring a Macan to a driving school at Sonoma Raceway and they said I could.

BTW, I will swap pads for the Porterfields when the OEM ones are worn out, even though I have no intent to track my Macan.

997 - 3131 lbs
MACAN - 4244 lbs
MACAN ≠ track car

Sure, you can use it a few times a year to get your fix. But really? Your just setting yourself up for disappointment.
I'm sure fresh stock pads would be fine. Tracking this fatty, will be all about speed entry and balance.

I dunno...if there were a track around here that would let us, our Turbo with just about 10 lb. per hp and torque to match, would seem to be an interesting vehicle to track. Being lowered, the PDK and some decent pads and tires, I have a feeling it could surprise some folks. Granted, it's not going to keep up with GT3/GT4 crowd but the object is not necessarily to be the fastest but always to do the best you can with whatcha brung.

Yeah, I'm not trying to set any track records out there. I'm a novice doing only a couple events each year for fun. Ferodo DS2500s would be a great solution, but unfortunately mine is an S with the smaller brakes. I did find EBC Yellowstuff pads, which will probably work. It seems Flat 6 Motorsports has a good, if not complete, selection of all the performance options for the Macan.

I would do a track day first as a stock setup, don't worry your factory pads will do just fine for a day. Then mod as needed, if you still want to track it after that.

Big Smoke, I know you mean it's an '88 but you've got the apostrophe so it reads "88 ft. solid front rotors"....Talk about stopping power!

Donohue was driving the South Course which is much shorter and replete with some very interesting turns that I would've thought given the 944 Turbo a slight advantage due to its smaller size and lower weight. Had they been driving the Full Course with its long back straight and front straight, the Macan would've had an even greater advantage. Sadly, as I mentioned previously, VIR currently bans SUV's/CUV's.

Those smoking brakes on the Macan GTS are what concerns me. Then again I'm probably driving at 60% of that guy's pace.

I've had my wife's S our on Thunderhill a couple of times. Car is incredibly competent for a big heavy SUV; shockingly so. Brakes are definitely a weak point but made it through 4-5 spirited laps before fading a little. I just dialed down the speed and back on the braking zones and it was fine. I'm sure pads and fluid would help.

Go with the Porterfield R4-S then. Available for front and rear.
