No clue why it shouldn't work. I know the Macan switches off outlets when the car isn't running; perhaps you need to choose a particular socket to charge the car from? They aren't all rated for the same current.
A quick call to your dealership or an email to PCNA could probably supply an answer.
I'm still using an old-school charger that connects to the terminals under the hood.

re: cigar lighter battery charging
The cigar lighter on the Macan is powered off after 15 (or maybe 30) minutes - unlike other Porsche models.
There's quite a thread on the topic in the macanforum

Hook up a convenient quick connect pigtail to the battery rather than using the cigarette lighter port.

From a thread in the 981 Forum
"I performed an automatic coding on the Gateway in the vehicle. Tell the tech that there is a bulletin out for the Macan 58/14 2750 concerning 12 volt trickle charging. The gateway cu is supposed to recognize that a charger is plugged in an keep the 12 volt sockets active. If it is not coded correctly the 12 volt sockets will shut down after a short time (maybe 15 minutes)."
981 models at some point in the 2016 production switched from being always hot to shutting off. No fix identified yet (the above did not work on the 981 car).
If this works for you could you please PM.

CTEK Battery Charger Use on a 2018 Macan S
With our 2018 Macan S (“Mac”), I have tried two different CTEK battery chargers, both separately used with a cigarette lighter extension, and with the two clamp/clips extension at different times.
The CTEK Multi US 3300, when put either in the Auto Symbol mode, or the Snowflake Symbol mode, while it will properly light up its LEDs, will not charge Mac. With the cigarette lighter extension connected to the US 3300: 1.) I turn the ignition on; 2.) Plug in the cigarette light extension into Mac’s center lighter socket; 3.) Turn the ignition off; and 4.) Connect the AC plug of the 3300 into the wall receptacle (the “French Procedure”). The green LED indicator light on the cigarette extension stays green AFTER the 15 minutes the cigarette lighter receptacle on Mac is programmed to turn off automatically, which means the socket is still live. (Note - a French poster set out this four-step procedure first.) You may chose to try this procedure with your Porsche branded charger.
Even after 12 hours, the US 3300 does not indicate a full charge with a green LED indicator light, and instead indicates, with the orange LED, that the battery is still charging Mac’s battery. On a different day, I then tried the clamp extension using the under-the-hood battery hook-ups. After 9 hours, the orange LED (with the half-full battery symbol) on the body of the CTEK US 3300 charger was still lit, indicating that it was still charging.
Using the French Procedure with the CTEK MUS 4.3 Battery Charger, the green LED indicator light on the cigarette extension comes on, and the green LED on the body of the MUS 4.3 will indicate a full charge after a few hours. Using the clamp/clips extension several days later with the MUS 4.3 and under-the-hood battery hook-ups gives Mac a full charge in a similar time frame.
Conclusion-Opinion. The CTEK US3300 in either the Auto Symbol mode, or the Snowflake mode, with either extension does not work with our 2018 Macan S, only the CTEK MUS 4.3 will. The CTEK US 3300, using either extension, does work fine with our 2012 Porsche 997.2 (cigarette socket usually), and our 2011 BMW 335is (under-the-hood hook-up always), Trust this explanation of my experiences with both the US3300 and the MUS 4.3 will help others here as to a Macan.

Post Script: The Porsche charger appears to be a re-branded CTEK US 3300, but is said to have some additional features. Also the Porsche chargers that I have seen are hard-wired only to a cigarette plug, which is to be inserted into the cigarette lighter socket. The CTEKs have different extensions which will clip onto the red/black wires going to either the cigarette lighter socket, or the battery. All of my CTEK extensions have in-line fuses, including the direct hook up to the battery.
LED indicator on the cigarette lighter plug.
CTEK MUS 4.3.
