I just did it and it does work, but care has to taken or you will get codes. I have a Valentine, and they have a 3rd part that has hard wire kits with RJ45 to Valentine, but no Bluetooth unless you get a dual RJ45 connection. I haven't done that yet. So far for me, no issues.

Hi, I'm not using a fuse connector to the fuse box. If you go to Valentine web site you can find a direct wire patch to the 12V system if you have a dimmer mirror with a 12V connection. If you don't have that you have to get the line to the fuse box just takes a lot longer to do that. They also have the fuse box line to. I hope that helps.

Found a open fuse on passenger side A block (open for me at least, 4th one down) that goes on//off with ignition. Used a fuse tap that came with an ebay Escort hardwire kit ($11) . Only ground in box to use is the silver bolt /nut to right of fuse blocks.
Easy to snake wire out from box , across airbag pillar crack, to/under /up wearher strip, back across airbag pillar crack, under header to detectror.
To keep detector out of thieves sight I also got an ebay sunvisor organizer with a hidden pocket (looks like a cigarette pack holder) with a forward facing plastic window for a dectector (advertised for V1, but will accept any model if of similar size) . Pocket flap obstructs the detector screen when closed (unless you flip open the flap when driving) but voice/ sound beeps are all I need.
