Default 2025 Mecan EV 4 Battery Won't Charge

Getting a PCM (dash and Infotainment screen) error "Charging Not Possible". The charging port starts off green then switches to red. Issue is intermittent. Multiple charging stations tried.

Have tried the following:1. In the car’s charging menu, changed to “Direct/Immediate” and deleted any timers or profiles, then plug in again.

2. Temporarily turned off Plug & Charge in both the PCM and the My Porsche app, then started the charge.

3. Put into Compatibility Mode and re‑tried

4. Factory reboot where all settings are lost

It has been to 2 dealers and verified that it is not the physical cable/charger. The dealers have given up and told us to call 1-800-Porsche, who were not helpful.

Now stuck with a brick of a car. If anyone has a suggestion, let me know before I go down the legal path and try and get a buy back.

warranty issue - have the dealer diagnose and fix the car

I too have received the same error message when trying to charge at home since the November VR28.13 software update and can verify that a factory reset does not solve the problem. I have, however, discovered 2 inexplicable and crazy workarounds. I can charge at home if I specify a departure time a few hours in advance and wait for the car to charge. I can also Plug and Charge if I change the user account to GUEST. Prior to the software update, I simply plugged in and walked away and it worked. I can also verify that 1-800 PORSCHE was no help.

What a great couple of dealers - “no clue, good luck”. Force them to keep the car, give you a loaner, and figure it out FFS.

The 800 # will do absolutely nothing - this is why the dealership network even exists in the first place. You must be more patient than me - I would have lost it by now.

Thanks - agree. It's clearly a software problem but what can you do when the dealers and 800 number shrug you off.

Have a loaner and the second dealer has the car (not the one purchased from) - if the clock ticks past 30 days in IL - I think it qualifies for a lemon. Have to put the onus back on the dealer.

What's frustrating is how this started is the driver's screen would go blank when driving and when we called the dealer - they had me tow the car in (not safe to drive). The dealer insisted on updating the software. Fixed the display problem, created a bigger problem.

I may investigate if the software can be downgraded. I'll take a blank screen over an EV that can't charge.

First of all, the fact that both Service depts told you to call Porsche with a car having an issue under warranty is mind blowing!

In your situation I'd get legal representation started early. If Porsche gets a letter stating that you'll be pursuing a buy-back option immediately the 'lemon' qualifies, it will probably provide decent motivation to damn well do something.

car is non functional - it's still under warranty - as to why it's not working is not relevant - they either fix it buy it back - it's broken - no question - it's their job to find it and fix it in a reasonable amount of time - if they can't it's a buy back and you get to car shopping again.

We had just purchased a 2025 Turbo (traded in our 24 Macan 4). The screen going black (drivers, then center) happened in first 17 miles we owned the car. Porsche did a hard reset, happened again as we were leaving the dealership. Left it with them on Saturday, by that Monday (total miles on car now 73) the GM of the dealership said, "this will be fixed, but it's going to be a long process. That isn't fair for you. We will buy it back right now." No qualifiers, not hemming and hawing. Just wrote us a check.

We have a 2026 Turbo on order. Sorry you have terrible dealers. I have dealt with 3 dealerships (Porsche Grapevine Texas with current EV, Porsche Plano, and Porsche Chandler AZ (bought the GT3RS from them). All of my experiences have been very supportive.

I just started having this problem at home. It is charging at the dealer with the same cables. Did you figure out the problem?
