Default Massive Battery Drain While Parked & Locked

Over the past week I’ve had two occurrences where the charge level has depleted while sitting locked in our garage. From 82% to 70% between Saturday and Thursday, and from 61% to 59% in the last 27 hours.

Is anyone else having this issue? I’ve had the car since early October 2024 and have never lost a single % even when sitting for 2 weeks…

Did you tell the car to remain on for 30 minutes and allow the A/C to run?

No, that’d be a very good explanation however. Both times I had turned the car off by pressing the power button and heard the car lock. Fans and what not were off.

Did you happen to leave the second FOB inside the car or nearby?

Is you Porsche app active all the time?

No, second FOB has been in our condo 7 floors up from the garage in a drawer since we got the car. Porsche app was not opened during the timeframe, and to my knowledge nothing should have changed with settings in the past week to cause new battery drain.

Other makes and models often have radios that won't turn off, or go to sleep, as the source of battery drain problems. Perhaps a hard reset would solve your problem... dunno.

I dunno, it’s very odd. Still running ~2-3% decline per 24 hours of no use. No behavior change or setting changes from me. Have had it 10 months now and the past 8 days have been acting this way. Did a factory reset yesterday and no change into today.

They did do a software update at the dealer but that was ~45 days ago. Maybe related, but delayed?

Some have noticed an increase in ignition off power draw after the recent app update. But not that much.

Are you checking the app?
That'll wake the car back up a bit.
In this hot weather, even unlocking the car is causing the cars cooling fans to go nuts for a bit on our lot.
Could also be that you have the "unlock turns on A/C" function on in the climate menu

I opened the forum to write almost identical post. My problem also started abruptly, but I have more ominous symptoms. I have a charging target of 80%, and smart wall charger which starts the charging on schedule, usually at 11PM or 12AM, so we plug it in and leave it, charging will start at night and will be completed in 4-5-6 hours depending on the initial level. Last few charges I found that it cannot reach that 80% level. When charging from 20+, it stuck at 76%, from 30+ at 78%. What is interesting - charger shows two drops in amperage, one to about 1/3 of full power for about 20 minutes, then to 2.3A (instead of 50) for exactly 3 hours. Car shows 0 kW at that time, meaning 0.5 kW goes somewhere but not into the battery. No A/C settings have been changed. Once I opened the car while in that state, it awakened up and started charging to 80% at full power.

Also, it seems it cannot estimate state of charge precisely. Once right before the long trip it was left to charge from 75% to 100%, got 22 kWh and showed low 90s instead of 97%. Then it did not drop after driving 20 or 30 km, and started dropping by very slow rate (not usual 1% per 5 km it is supposed to do). Closer to 40% it started dropping rapidly, like 1-2-3 km per 1%. When plugged in, 30-70% consumed 30 kWh, not 40. And now I'm in strange city and SoC drops 1-2% each day while parked in underground garage where it is not too hot. I already charged it to 100% using slow charger with the hope it will recalibrate itself, it reached 100% and did not lose it overnight which is already a good sign (it was a public charger so I unplugged it late in the evening), but SoC is still lost somewhere. I will come home and call the dealer, but if this is a rare scenario, I won't hope for a quick fix.

Communication module is not installed in my country, so there is no chance it will update the software or be awaken by the app.
Charging history. Blue line is the current, see two drops, and second one is still above zero. This might be where energy is drained

Where is this feature in the menu? Can you please make a picture of it? I cannot find it, and car starting itself when opened is not something I would wish for - maybe I forgot something and opened it to take that something from the cabin, why turning "ready to drive" on with A/C and whatnot? BMW only turns on the A/C without ready to drive mode and that already makes me sad (especially because it does that even when you don't have key fob with you), Mercedes won't start anything unless you hit Start button and this is how it should be.

I seem to be experiencing some recent sudden battery drain as well. Left for vacation for two weeks with a 79% state of charge. Came back to a 67% charge. Car sat in the garage unlocked. I did check on the battery state from the app a few times. Still a 12% drop in two weeks seems high.

Today, I charged it back to 80% at work. Range at 80% was 185 miles which is unusually low (typically is 250+ miles). After it was charged, I moved the car to free the charger. 4 hours later, the charge was 76%... Just sitting there. Something is not right :-(

I sent a note to my service advisor.

Not normal. My taycan drains at less than 1% a week.

Here is what I was suggested to do and what helped. Discharge to 20%, let it sit for 12 hours. Slow charge to 90+ and again let it sit for 12 hours. I did only the latter portion of the advice, charged to 90%, next morning it said 91%. Since then there were no misalignments between SoC display and amount of energy going into the battery, and range estimation behaved as before the problem started.

Something weird is going on. Range is way off at 79% even though consumption is correct.

At 3 miles/kWh and 79% battery (assuming 95 usable kWh) I should have ~83x3=249 miles range. Instead it lists 184 miles…
