Macan EV: Macan EV Production and Delivery Discussion Thread

it’s August and September Production (not delivery)
the dealers and post are saying they are getting May+ production delivered in October.
I agree it’s silly and they should have made these all MY25 vs a super short run of MY24 but 🤷♂️

My Macan 4 is May Production and a 2024 MY per my build sheet. It was originally July delivery, but now is September. It still arrives in July, but on port hold. I assume CARB related.

My guess is that the price increase for the 2025 will be less than the potential depreciation benefit at the time or resale for a 2025 vs 2024. Given that delivery of the 2024 (if I take the current allocation) will only be a couple of months (maybe 3) before the 2025 would arrive, I thought it would be worth waiting. No science behind this.
The other thing that I am hoping for is that by the time the next round of allocations lock, there may be a car, or possibly some trim options, to see in person. Timing may not work out but there's a chance.

The lock date for my build, originally scheduled for late April and subsequently moved to June 6, was just moved up to today. The vehicle is now scheduled to complete production on June 6. Unclear how that will translate into a delivery date.

In the meantime, in 3 years, Xiaomi was able to become a carmaker and to build 8000 SU7 per month + thousands of deliveries, with no experience at all…
Not the same car, for sure, but still, I do not understand why Porsche is unable to deliver Macan EV now… nor 6 months ago.

The rumor I’ve heard is the delays are due to the software rewrite. This makes sense to me as that was a major course change (ditching the Cariad stack).
The other interesting clue is that I saw no evidence of the advanced CarPlay features in the myriad videos I watched. I know Porsche has committed to being an early adopter of the new CarPlay so I can imagine there’s a lot of code to write and test.
I have a friend with an ID4 (Cariad stack) and it’s just bad. If Porsche is doing a thorough software test, then I’m good with the delay as I’d be unhappy if my car was as glitchy as the VW.

What many of you are hearing is what I have heard/read, that the delays are due to a major software update. I notice that every one of the Pacific Northwest U.S. dealer demonstrator arrivals are now scheduled for October, 2024. Whether that is just a safe “under promise and over deliver” strategy or they really will not be here until October instead of earlier estimated late July/early August arrivals, is something we will have to learn later.
