It goes against my better judgement posting in this forum but I do know Jack personally and calling him 'cheap' shows you don't understand the real story behind MSR and his efforts to develop the property.
I don't want to get into it here but understand that the expense to build his dream far exceeds what you see (do you have any idea what it cost to transition from a water well to city provided water?), banks will not provide any financing, and the rain this year had a large impact on revenue.
Be thankful that Jack risked his @ss to build this playground for us and be a little patient with regards to some of the issues that have not been addressed yet. We have the best developed country club track in the country and the least expensive to run at. I find it hard to complain when I consider all the facts.

Um...he charges to use it. Therefore, it is incumbent upon him to do wehatever it takes for safety. As such, paying a couple of guys $200 for a full day of picking up rocks on the new section would seem like a no brainer.

Um ... you are aware of the condition and can make your own choice to drive on it or not. You keep deciding go out knowing the rocks are there and accept that risk. Yes, it does sound like a no brainer.
By the way, Jack had plans to address the issue sooner but the rain made the ground unstable for the final landscaping and sod to take root. My understanding is that some work had been done now as the 3.1 was closed a few weeks ago to allow some new grass to take root.

Rob, you are right. I choose to use it. However, I don't go off track.
My concern is not for me, but rather for students who may have an OTE in the new section. As it stands, they could endure major car damage unnecessarily due to all the rocks, which, frankly, should have been picked up LAST year, BEFORE all the rains.

MSR is a business and has been a business with no local competition. That is about to change with ECR coming on line (although it will take time for ECR to get its facilities fully built out). I'm sure the clubs in the area will begin to spread their dollars (events) between both tracks. People, over time, will speak with their DE dollars which track they prefer. And I suspect the tracks will become motivated to become more responsive to the consumers' wants and needs in order to compete.
BTW, the rock issue at MSR kind of reminds me of the public slips at Sneaky Pete's restaurant/bar on Lake Lewisville. They are bare metal framed with no bumpers or cushion to protect expensive boats' gel coats. I used to bitch about why Sneaky Petes didn't invest some money in adding some bumpers to their slips. I scratched my boat on it once. But everybody seems to keep going there anyway. Must be the hot waitresses...
