Default HWFMR Road america Report: Cookies and Beer

The Big Turtle lived up to his moniker.

Three seconds slower than last year.

Really depressed. Then figured out it was the motor not the drover, after being pulled by H and G cars.

World Class Codrover, Michael Benet, shows up for Sunday (He put the Turtle Car on the class pole two years ago). He's 3 seconds slower too.

He droves a brilliant race. I hop in and three F cars get by me for position on my out lap.

Hey Wait For Me indeed.

Sunday in qualifying I'm as fast as Michael, so I feel a little better (HWFM Full Disclosure: I did have a cooler track), but teammate and archnemesis Doug Crossman is in the 30s with a 39.6. BTW the Hornet grew some wings and turned a lap in the 30s over the weekend as well.

Motor was worse in the race and I moved backwards with great haste.

Now for the iomportant part.

Our Food Angel is aptly name. 7 Layer cookies are like sugar laden crack. OMG. I said "if Charlie isn't good to you..." Katie said "Don't worry, there's a line."
I said "what number am I?"

And Joe! Besides shooting terrific photography, he makes excellent beer. I mean it is really, really good. It is so good, I know VR would say to him "If your wife isn't good to you..."

Also met Joe's dad who lives not far from me (these things are relative out west) in Montana. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Dave is a track nut too, and runs DEs out there in the Big Sky country.

Thanks for brewing up a special batch for the Turtles Joe. And thanks for hosting the festivities Eric. (And sorry I didn't make the ceremonial first tasting -- I was attending to the motor with the techs)

I was worried sick Saturday night when my roommate didn't show. But I guess when you're sharing a place with the Team's Grid Girl Procurer, you have to expect that.

Overall it was a bad weekend mechanically for the team. Two blown motors, a flat tire during the Enduro, and other ills. Others were just off last year's pace.

But we had a great time seeing everyone up there. And there were a lot of laffs.

Next year...

Mike, sounds like a great event, 'cept for that 4cyl water pump. What is going on with the motor? Didn't you just have it rebuilt?????

Sorry to hear you had motor issues. Will you be able to get it sorted in time for Daytona? What was the F class podium? Did Hupfer beat Poeltl as expected?

sounds like the wrenchers are going to be spending a lot of time working on motors this winter!!! Bummer.

Still, better to be slow and still shiny!!!!

I have always had this thought . . . the more money it costs, the more you wrench on it. It just seems to work out that way. One more reason to have a 'cheap' race car.

Wow! Those are some quick times! I think I would be doing well to break 2:40.

I would feel good if I could just put two of those together.
