re: Question for the Instructors and CIs out there.
IMO based on my 12 years of DE with MANY different groups through out California... you can EASILY check out an instructor in 2-3 laps. First lap, tell them to drive and talk and the same time, as if talking to a brand new student who is completely new to road courses. This way you can see how they teach. Then, you ask them to take a hot lap or two at speeds they are comfortable with. With in a few corners if will know what skill level they are at easily. They can not hide it.
This doesn't tell how WELL they can communicate or work with the students but at least you will have good ideas about them...

this is my input to this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-and-drivers-education-forum/335682-question-for-the-instructors-and-cis-out-there.html
Also, notice you do not have to be a super fast driver to be a good instructor. Often times, a mid level instructor is good enough to get newbies started.

The key is that you need not be a fast driver, only one who actually knows how to handle a car instead of crashing into things.

I've offered many ppl to ride with me, 1 lap. They will know if I got it or not... I know I got it, now it's matter of letting the right ppl (sponsors and team owners) know that I got it.

Thank you, that is quite true. It is all coming together in a wonderful way. But at the same time, the amazing journey has just begun.
