It still would would be useful collate the data that we have so far to see if there are certain months with more failures. From the other thread of cars with track miles and no problems, collate together data of the production months with the least problems. I would try but statistical analysis is not my strong suit . I'm a marketing guy..
Or maybe its just the luck of the draw..carl

there are now 3 in a close circle just in the South San Fran Bay Area, we all know each other well... my guess is the incidence is much higher than 1% ...
from what i can tell, the 3 are about 1 year apart in mfg sequence... most recent one that failed was delivered only 4 mos ago as euro delivery

They may have to do what they did on the GT3 engines and extend everyone's power train warranty to 100k. That would be nice.

I met with Porsche Dealer Shop Forman. NO PET or any information on internals. They use to rebuild the old units and I believe 996 with SUPER HD press for gears but no more. They have NO internal info. No service bulletin yet. Regional guy wasn't even aware. I think the count is higher. Didn't one person have 2 failures also?

there are no PN for internal gears. no marking on internal gears either and dealers will not open your gaerbox.

Serviceable cars stopped with the 987 and 997 generations. Hopefully the aftermarket plays ball.

Car is now at the dealer. Will keep folks posted when I learn more about the timeline on a new trans.
Happy to share more details once Porsche actually follows through with warrantying their crappy trans.
I tracked the crap out of my Audi TT-RS and never had a gear fail! WTH.

Mech33: Sorry to hear of your gearbox's failure.
For those willing to provide it, standardized info would be helpful on these failures, such as:
-Vehicle build date:
-Odometer reading at failure:
-Track mileage to date: (estimate ok)
-Failed on track or street:
-Symtoms/noises/etc:
-Dealer response:
-Estimated time of new gearbox delivery:
