Question 19 inch wheels on the GT4 for track use?

I'm probably going to track the car 6-8 days per year (only because I'll be tracking my fully built Cayman more often) and thinking about getting 19 inch wheels. Anyone else planning on getting 19 inch wheels for the track?

I was thinking 18" if they'll fit (same as the GT3)

If appropriate sizes are made and an appealing tire is available in that size, probably. But none of the threads on this subject thus far have cited any actual wheels that are available for purchase.

I'd be surprised if they did, but you'd also be lowering your ride height a full inch unless you chose tires with fatter sidewalls to compensate and were ok with the likely handling/feel tradeoffs that entailed.

usctrojanGT3, I'm down with a forgeline GA1R groupbuy. I have three sets on the RS, they are ridiculously strong.

...yes but think of the gearing benefits if you can sort the suspension geometry

It's just a tiny bit of caster offset that can be adjusted for if you have it aligned with 19's on it. I've been running 18s on my .2RS for a while, and there is no noticeable impact on handling between 19s and 18s. The GT4 racecar will have 18s i'll bet.

I'm wondering if 18" wheels will fit over the brakes.

18" don't fit over the brakes.

Forgeline has a setup in mind on 19". They think we can fit 235/35/19 on front and 315/30/19 on rear.

Wondering if that'll cause the nannies to go nuts. Why not a 245 up front?

I am down for a set of Forgelines......

I wonder if 245/35 and 315/30 is possible. I would rather the 245 front. These are the sizes (although in 18's) that I run on my 996 GT3 and this package is very balanced.

Seeing how flush the stock rear wheel/tire looks on the GT4, I hope a 315 will fit. It sure doesn't look like it will..... Time will tell.

Steve (forgeline) was saying he thinks that is the largest R7 setup that will fit. R7 does not come in a 245 size yet, only 235/35 - but it's actually a bit wider (10.1") than the MPSC2 245/20 (9.8"). The diameter ratio is not great (97.7) compared to stock ratio (99.2), but it might not be enough to throw off electronics...won't know until we try (likely same results of GT3 ratios). In my experience on the 997 it's stability control that is the most finicky to the ratio so I don't care much.

The hoosier website has some strange specs - the 295/30/19 and 315/30/19 have the same diameter which might not be accurate.

We have arranged for the following setup for the GT4;
Forgeline GA1R's
9x19" front
11x19" rear
With Hoosier R7
Front: 235/35/19
Rear: 315/30/19
PM for a RL member deal.
