Addicted to auto blip
I feel its a bit of a confession, I love auto blip in GT4 - especially on the street. Just love the way it sounds when it nails throttle so hard and quickly. Maybe my favorite street moments in GT4 is rolling into a stoplight and downshifting with the auto blip.
I had gotten pretty good at heel toe in my S2K, and it is very satisfying to to get it right. The GT4 being what it is it just feels safer using the auto blip. It is a great warning against a potential misshift (if you don't real the right sound don't let clutch out) and makes driving at 10/10 on track way easier.
Ok I confessed - should I feel shame?

Drifting
I like it as long as I'm doing my job and keeping it in check. But if I get lazy it can really embarrass me. Like in my actual 'hood, slowing down for the turn onto my street, with families walking on the sidewalk a few feet from my car, and it sounds like I'm giving it a big hot-dog rev to "impress the ladies" or something, and I feel like a total DB when I do that.
Also, just rolling to a slow stop at a traffic light, if I try to slot into first while still going too fast, even if I'm keeping the clutch in, it of course revs like an SOB, again sounding like I'm challenging everybody else at the light to a stoplight drag.
But I've gotten pretty good at keeping it in check during those times.

LOL. I love it also. I agree with NoGaBiker, though. I've screwed up a couple times and blasted a family out for a walk as I approached a stop-sign. Me=Captain DB. *But*...when a kid spots me approaching, it's game on and I always get a lot of thumbs up and grins from the noise.

With both my 2014 manual 981 Cayman S and my 2015 manual C2S, after driving manual Porsches for 45 years, I found three very solid reasons to ALWAYS use Sport+ with its automatic throttle blipping:
- full power, all the way to redline
- more accurate throttle blipping rpm-wise, than i could ever do with my hands and feet. It's just dead on every time.
- throttle blipping once in a great while, way beyond what I expected, that immediately lit a light bulb in my brain each time it happened. It blasted my brain with a strong WARNING, that to let the clutch out would be a MONEY SHIFT into a gear lower than wanted that would stretch the rod cap bolts, leading to engine failure. A failure that would NOT covered by Porsche warranty! And such a car (with recorded "money shift", would not able to be CPO'd if traded. This happened only a very few times, but i was so in tune with downshifting these Porsches that i never let the clutch out when I heard a wild over-blip of the engine. So i never had a problem, and both engines passed a PCM report with zero serious over - revs when they checked because i traded them.
So auto throttle blipping in Sport+ is worth a lot of money to many of us. Do not forget to use it! Or you might truly regret it...
Comprende??

It’s boring and only for those who can’t drive a manual.
Just kidding.
I used to press ‘sport’ as soon as I started my GT4. Makes you feel like a hero when approaching a red light.

I agree - my wife has the M2 and I was impressed with the rev match in that but that was before I had the GT4. The M2 one feels like a crutch I could easily live without, whereas the GT4 version completely enhances the entire driving experience.
