With work gloves on, it is very easy to pull the air filter out without any special tools. I like the zip tie idea as well.

This is how mine were at 10k as well. We changed them when doing the Dundon race headers. I don't recall what the recommended interval is -- but I think it was double that. Crazy. Will be changing them annually now (which should be ~2-3k).

We have a set of K&N filters we used for a test from earlier in the year. They are like brand new they have maybe 10 laps on them from Daytona. $75

If you go the K&N or BMC route, cleaning, letting them dry and re-oiling can take time and I bought used a second pair of the black mounts and an extra set of oiled filters and keep them pre-assembled, so filters can be changed immediately without wait and then clean the filters later and not put the car down for a half day, waiting for the oid, cleaned filters to dry. The mounts appear frequently on auction sites and are not that expensive. Note left and right are different.

If you buy new factory-style paper filters then all this saves is the time to remove and replace the screws that hold the filters to the housing,

It looks like you are having fun actually driving the car.

I would suggest getting two sets of BMC air filters. It is a high initial cost for air filters but then you can have one set in the car and one set ready to go and you do not have to wait on cleaning/drying of the filters.

Good idea to have multiple sets of oiled filters if it's a car you need to drive. I left my K&N air dry 24 hours before re-oiling to be safe.
