maybe the Racecar stays 3.8l because base for homologation will stay 981 streetcar.
because 718/982 GT4 streetcars will become 16V turbo?
just guessing. and based on my hybrid posts a couple of pages back.
the based on the (true for everybody) tested 4cyl prototypes... (AP said it, imo vids show some 4cyl cars...)

It wont be until 2022 that we know if GT4 will go turbo.

If this is the last generation of the GT4 with a NA engine, don't you think it is a disappointment if porsche does not give it everything that they could have. It seems like the next GT4 is being intentionally pegged back from the 4.0L that it could've gotten. Let's hope they surprise us with some other improvement instead.

Exactly, 2 different routes to get to the same destination. If the racing teams are ok with it the street car guys should be too.

Not necessarily. The power on the X51 is made up top and not across as explained in several posts in this thread. Its kind of like apples and oranges; #s are meaningful if you have a curve to compare..

981 owners should consider upgrading to the X51 package to get the same results as the new 781 GT4. BGB motorsports have been doing this for awhile and can do it with their eyes closed. Factory fit and finish.

BGB has been doing X51 with 4.0L stroke and the results are dreamy. That would have been my dream 718GT4. But Porsche put the squash on that. So we got one and not the other.

You’re spot on, I meant just overall HP number. Should have made that more clear.

Did they really put the squash on or are they just, in typical fashion, working on a plan to get more $s out of ones wallet? After all they have had practice all these years and a willing consumer. There is a reason they have such a high margin when compared to most - Ferrari excluded.

Maybe on the GT4 RS even though I would not be interested if they made it with just the PDK ??

Really hoping it's just not an X51 that won't address the sluggish low end performance (with the gearing). If anything the little more punch at the top might make the down low feel even worse. Now if they redo the hearing with it then I'll be fine. Was never really happy with the full power band of the GT4 but i never had a complaint about my 991.1S.

Only valid for non-GT4 981s, the GT4 has a rather different suspension setup with a 991 GT3 front end. 982 GT4 is going to be closer to the 981 in that regard than the vanilla 981/982 are.
