No, it's always at the same place irrespective of what gear the transmission is in.

sounds like a resonance is being excited by that RPM range. My other car has very stiff engine mounts and suddenly the cabin will buzz at certain Rpm. Good luck tracking it down.

Hmmm.... PASM? Hadn't considered anything to do with that system. But easy enough to test. I'm out of the country till Sunday, but will push the button and see what happens when I get back.

Could it be from the injection pump?

Once you try that, let me know. It should get even worse, or at least change range.... if not.. You know what I'm going to rule out next.

The next step after that will require someone that knows how to work tools... So I will need to speak with whoever you have at the ready.

Actually, I have no idea what you're ruling out or in with the PASM button. I'm interested to hear. Why do you think that might affect the sound?

It's my understanding that this will change the dampening of the motor and transmission. So the range should drop... the last check will be chassis related.

Is this your first "GT" car?

Sounds like either some make the sound and some don't, or some make it loudly and some make it quietly to the point that owners don't even hear it.

Sounds like I got one of the loudest ones around.
After listening to the video, your car sounds similar to mine. Cannot directly compare amplitude without having the cars together and equally difficult to say yours is louder than average.

Do Dynamic Motor Mounts have a history of this?

None that I have read about...

If it is the motor making the noise then decreasing the dampening should magnify the sound... if not, there is a point that made a ton of weird sounds on mine that Porsche was unable to fix and took me 30 mins.

Okay, good to know. I'll check it out on Sunday evening when I return.

Thanks!

Went for a 100 mile drive this morning. With the windows up I can hear this noise, but hard to say whether it's as loud as you experience in real life. May be something you never solve TBH!

I found a video (R&T no less) that captures the exact sound I'm hearing. This is long (30-some minutes), but if you start at 17:30 and listen to 20:00 (or farther), where he's driving in the twisties, you can hear the high pitched whine particularly when he comes off the throttle and the exhaust is quiet. Same exact sound. So I'm good to go.

I will still test it with the PASM button pushed and report back.

Yeah, all I hear is normal gear whine...
