Choosing cats vs catless can be a difficult decision.

Catless is not an option in states where you need to pass emissions testing. Catless headers will make more HP and, especially, more torque. Catless headers will also be louder, often much louder, than headers with cats.

Cats are more likely to fail when used at tracks that have long straight sections where you will be on full power for extended periods of time (i.e., Watkins Glen and VIR). But some people who track their cars with aftermarket headers don't experience problems with aftermarket headers with cats.

Some of the vendors have mentioned that all the aftermarket cats come from one supplier. In other words, you're likely to have the same experience with the cats irrespective of who makes the headers.

I'm also curious about cat failures. My 987.1 had 124 track days including many at Watkins Glen and VIR with no cat issues. I ran stock headers with Tubi and later Fabspeed Race exhaust. The new owner just completed another season.

BGB

I would be adding the plenum, intake, TB and tune in addition to headers (catless since I will be tracking).

mostly street driving, but probably 12-15 track days per summer at WGI, Mosport, Pitt Race, Mid-Ohio...

are they all pretty equivalent and really tuner dependent or are there major differences?
If you are going catless for the track I think you will find the best options will be:

Cargraphic
Dundon
GMG
Fabspeed

Cargraphic, GMG and Fabspeed are well established with many happy customers. With Tune and TB all will give you similar power. So main difference will be sound - all sound great, you just have to decide what you like best.

Dundon is the new entity on the block with a good reputation on the GT3 side for quality and performance. They now offer a package for the GT4. They have a new design and offer a header and tune package. They are also more expensive. Early review are just in on their product and the customers seem to be happy, however they power claims they have made, have not been duplicated in independent testing (to date). Their claims were well in excess of the competitors, however independent test show they are equal to the competition or may have a slight advantage.

BGB and Sharkworks are using Cargraphic with their packages with Cobb Tune or new ECU from German tuner. GMG offers a package with a GIAC tune. Fabspeed offers a complete package as well with Cobb tune. All seem to work well and generate similar numbers of boost.

The newest offering is the Cargraphic sport set up with removable cats. BGB has a group buy going and this offers the best of both worlds. Cats for the street and to keep the sound reasonable and race exhaust for the track with a quick change out of the cat for a straight pipe. No results yet with our without cats versus their sport and race exhaust.

I like the idea of getting a "complete" set up from one source that has happy customers and dyno results to show the improvements. So I would buy from BGB or Fabspeed directly, get everything that works together. GMG can offer you the same complete package. But since you are in NY i would work with one of the two above who are closer to you.

Not bad choice of these options with stock exhaust you will get nice pick up and great sound.

Here is a clip of mine with Fabspeed's race headers COBB tune and stock exhaust.
I find it a perfect combo for me as far as sound and power. Going catless does produce some fumes so I don't run it too much in the garage.
I drove down from NYC to Fabspeed's shop in Philly had all the work done there in about 4 hours.

Yeah, I thought about just driving down to Philly (5hrs) for the Fabspeed Gt 450 kit install, then driving home.

How do you pass NYS inspection without cats?

On my previous catless car just bought the mechanic a nice bottle of something and all was good

The NY inspection does not measure the exhaust output
they only use the OBD port so if you have no check engine light you're golden. The tune fools the computer reading the O2 sensors. It also helps to know a good mechanic to help you out with the process.😜😜
And save yourself $3k and keep the stock mufflers, guys at Fabspeed said that it doesn't make much difference on the HP and stock mufflers sound better in my opinion.

call John Gados at Fabspeed tell him Alex in the blue gt4 referred you he'll even give u a nice discount off the online prices.

I have Fabspeed sport headers (200 cell cats) with stock exhaust and no CEL yet. Have two track weekends on them. I do not have an ECU tune and have not wrapped them with insulation. No problems so far. The tech at my Porsche dealer tells me the 200 cell cats will fail (i.e., I will get a CEL) in a year or so. Plan A is to get the Fabspeed mini cat O2 sensor extensions if I need them to pass inspection, but I think NC gives me two more years before I have to pass.

KFMC-->the cats are physically connected to the headers in this car, at least with stock and with Fabspeed. Maybe there is another brand that puts a joint in between, but I do not recall seeing it.

Hello everyone! Hope you guys have been having a great holiday season

I wanted to chime in and say a few words. I have always been impressed at how the GT4 community comes together to provide honest and experienced feedback. Many of you in this thread I have worked with personally (Travis, Jacy, Bill, Alex, etc.), and I thank you very much for lending your feedback for the rest of the community to make an educated decision. It is great to see the Fabspeed community thriving here on the forum, and look forward to working with you guys again in the future and hitting the track with some of you too....Alex i'm calling you out buddy, May 7th NYST!

kfcmahon, i'd love the opportunity to chat with you about the different products we have available for your GT4. I'll be sure to answer any questions you have, and i'll give you a personal tour of the facility with an inside look at our product development. My personal cell is 484 883 6197, please feel free to reach out via text/call any time. I'm always here to support my guys, save for being on track or getting a death stare from my wife lol.

I also throw this video out as a challenge to you local GT4 guys to come take me down in my CR on track this coming season. Let's see what you've got!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Years!

Has anyone with headers actually experienced multiple brands?

There is now a removable cat header option. See the Cargraphics thread.

Dundon is also developing a set of bolt on cats for their headers. I'll get a set for mine.

I am just getting caught up on all of this but interesting if no one can replicate their claims or if they are about equal in performance to the competition
