Default Anybody else going to frozen DE at COTA on Sunday?

The forecast is for temps in the 20's and 30's with 20-25mph winds. Anybody tried using electric blankets for tire warmers?

I don't think I'd be on track in those temps.

Will be to the east at TWS. Our forecast high is about 40F Sunday. But should be dry and some sunshine so maybe not too bad. Hardest part will be staying warm between sessions! If you have a garage at COTA you can at least stay out of the wind. Best of luck.

Updated news report says wind chill in 10s-20s all day.. I might need my ski coat!

Garages are sold out so I'll be hiding from the wind in between sessions.

That's going to be brutal Mike! I don't know what's worse, rain all day or freezing temperatures.

Actually.....yes, since Hoosiers are not supposed to freeze, a friend did put his tires to sleep at night with a heated blanket.

If you have a gas space heater and keep the garage doors down it's tolerable.

Good opportunity to set a PB. Car and tires will perform really well.

It's definitely going to be chilly, but I'll take cold over rain for sure! I wish I would have had the chance to run my Z06 in below freezing ambient temperatures, since that is probably the only way to keep the thing from overheating.

I knew I wasn't the only crazy nut to think of makeshift warmers. If my run group isn't clogged with SRF's like last time at EA, maybe I can shoot for a PB.

I will be there. I am wondering if I can lap fast without using 3rd gear!

It would not surprise me if you are faster than me even if you skip 3rd gear.

I'm using all my gears since I'm slow. If I grenade third, hopefully Porsche will let me keep a few of the skatttered parts for some cool paper weights.

Are you going to run with a broken 3rd? I wouldn't.

If you're contemplating running with a broken gearbox, please, if not out of interest for your own safety and property, then at least out of respect/concern for that of the others who will be on track with you, don't do that. See this exchange from the sticky thread:

Everyone clam down with the lectures...I was joking...if I don't use 3rd gear, then it won't go.

Incidentally, I used to race professionally and one race the car lost 2 gears and I was told to keep driving...then it was stuck in one gear and the boss said to keep going! The tach would be pegged past the redline and I was hoping the engine would grenade so I could quit. No such luck!

Had another time where the clutch went...I simply shifted without the clutch for 30 minutes until the race ended. No one died.

I'm on the waiting list. After 16 hours in the rain and cold at COTA WRL, dry and cold sounds like heaven. You know what I'm saying texasviany.
