Hi,

2,486 is the worldwide production figure for 981 Spyders that has been reported here. I've never seen anything in writing yet to confirm that this is the official number, but have no reason to doubt it.

No idea on the number of GTS cars.

981 Spyder: 823 known cars according to the Porsche public database but additional sleuthing shows just a little under 850.

yup... one of the best kept secrets and I'm fine with that. I'm glad the GT4 and GT3RS took all the attention.

They draw crazy amounts of attention though. This must be what it's like to own a Ferrari. Every parking lot people stop to look at it. Never got attention like this in GT4 or 911 GTS Cab.

Depends on what you are looking for really. Also why did you sell the GT3RS, was it too much car or did you sell for other reasons?

In addition to the Gen 2 Spyders, I've been snooping around the 981 GTS field and this car appears to be quite rare as well. In fact, in Canada, I know of only 3 Boxster GTS's for sale, and probably 4-5 Spyders. No hard data as to production numbers for the OP.

Took one for a run on Saturday. Very responsive engine - in fact possibly slightly more than the 3.8. It doesn't have the brute force of the 3.8 but it revs fast and I never really felt it was under powered, at least for the roads I was on. A nice slightly more usable roof BUT... not the nice visual lines of the "power domes".

Not relevant today, but relevant to availability in general of Boxster GTS cars, I was at the Porsche dealer in Nashville in fall of 2015 when I was shopping to buy a Boxster and they had 2 of them in stock, pre-owned. Maybe they hunted them down or they were lease returns, dunno.

I have a 981 gts and love it
I tried for a spyder and missed out.
The gts is fantastic consolation
The exhaust note is intoxicating

So what’s the total # of 981 Boxster GTS produced, NA and worldwide? Has the 850 number for 981 Spyders in NA been confirmed?
