Our site does say they are on backorder. I'm happy to place a back order on them if you do not mind waiting. It does place your name in line for the next shipment in, and we don't bill you until they ship.
I have our Bridgestone rep trying to get an idea from production schedulers when the next round of the 245's are going to be made. So far, he has not been able to get a solid answer. I'll report back as soon as I get an answer.

As many of you have noticed, we pulled the front tires from our website. The reason was to not accumulate more backorders than Bridgestone is able to fill from online orders. Reps from the company were in this week and we again did our best to make them aware of the need to have the tires ASAP, and that racing season is approaching for cold parts of the country. We asked them to re-prioritize the production and or distribution of the 245 size to the US from Japan as fast as possible. We were told it was being looked into.
In the meantime, I'm happy to continue to place backorders via phone or email. I just wish I had some idea on the horizon for delivery.
I appreciate everyone's patience.

Has anyone had difficulty mounting the RE-71Rs on 20" OEM wheels? I just installed a third set and my installer is saying "never again." The bead is a tight fit and not easily manipulated. He had to heat and wrestle the front tires for a very long time. I like the performance and wear of of these but may have to switch tires or find a new installer?

I mostly do my tire work at a local Big-O I trust, but they were unable to mount my first set, so I consigned the problem to the dealer, who got it done, but is more expensive. I might try another independent next time....

If they are that tough, find someone who deals with Nissan GTRs or any other car that uses a large diameter run flat. RF's have really stiff sidewalls and not everyone cant deal with them.

Just spoke with Discount Tire. They called Bridgestone and were told that the fronts would be available by end of July.
Right now they have their July 4th rebate promotion going on which would get you a $100 rebate with the purchase of a F&R set. Even so delivery would happen outside of the rebate window they will honor the rebate with orders placed during this period. In addition if you have their CC you would get another $40 rebate.
Here is the math:
2x 295/30-20 = $682.98
2x 245/35-20 = $556.02
Rebate = $100
CC Rebate = $40
Total = $1099 incl S&H

They are not providing the tires in either size, or their pricing, on their website to compare.
Their site is also not showing a present Bridgestone promotion.

Is this a replacement for the RE-71R?
How does it compare in terms of performance with the RE-71Rs?
Is TireRack going to perform a side-by-side test so we can get some idea on how well it performs in autocross?
Thanks!
