Default Gear shift assist and g-meter without SC (USA)

Gear shift assist and g-meter function are not included if you don't have SC. There are folks who got those enabled at dealer after delivery. But I'm always under the impression that is for ROW and in the USA these can't be enabled.

Appearantly I was wrong. I took my car to the dealer recently to reset a service reminder. They couldn't reset the reminder through the regular reset method so they went the far route to reset the entire system. I suppose that might have been an ECU reflash. When I got my car back, I noticed both options are now enabled.

Anymore specific information? Those would be very helpful!

Do you need CDR or pcm to get this? Or is that irrelevant?

I have CD-R plus. But I don't think that matters. I did not ask the dealer to enable these because I thought they can't be done. I've no idea what the dealer actually did other than they "reset" my car. When I had the car back, all the settings I customized previously are gone. So I'm pretty sure they restored the whole system.

I bought sports chrono for the looks, I'll be honest. Now owning the car, I have to say that gear shift assist is a nice thing to have to help signal redline.

My dealer enabled g force and gear shift assist at PDI. No SC, base electronics/display.

Unfortunately dealer is reluctant to share the steps taken to enable the features.

I challenged their Tech guy that if he could activate these functions I would buy lunch for the dealership. It cost me $225 for Pizza Hut delivery

^This! I remember the service advisor mentioned changing/resetting gauge clusters.

I think it is activated automatically for those with SC. Those of us without are using a "back door" way of this perhaps frowned upon by Porsche management. Like the old days SC gets you a pricey clock.

I did not know it was a back door... I guess I will stop pestering my SA.
