Default Full Coverage Clear Wrap - Would you do it again?

For those that clear wrapped / PPF'd their entire car, would you do it again? How is it looking after a few thousand miles? Does the full wrap really reduce exterior maintenance noticeably (need for periodic polishing etc...)?

I don't think having the polish the car should enter the equation. I bought my car last September and the portions of bare paint are nowhere close to needing a polish 4000 miles later. The bare paint is fine and when you look close has a noticeably better texture then the Xpel portions.

The Xpel front has done its job. The Xpel has a few bug stains that go away after a while and one small tear from a rock. That piece will need replacement.

You can be less careful washing the filmed portions for fear of inducing swirls but I think bare paint is easier to clean. Less sticks to bare paint. I coated both the paint and the film.

Anyway because the risk of chips is lower in some areas, the fact that I don't like the texture of film (particularly on dark colors), and bare paint looks better, I opted not to film entire car. But I see why people might do it anyway.

^I am with Vantage on this. It is also a lot o $$$ to do the entire car and I do not see why it is necessary but some will want the piece of mind and find it justified.

I wouldn't do entire car, in fact I am not sure I will do a PPF again even for the high impact areas. The whole 'self-healing' features of XPel and Suntek is all marketing. Talking from personal experience...

my last 3 caymans covered front bumper, rockers, mirrors and behind the rear wheels and the forward edge of the side scoops. Cost 700 and no chips on any of the three total of 14000 miles. carl

My E90 was partially wrapped and in the 4 years i owned it the paint and PPF remained intact/perfect. My one complaint was it was super easy taking care of the PPF portion. A Quick Detailer and a Microfiber really made cleaning the front end of the car easy where as I took further precautions with the bare paint. My E90 had XPEL and you can tell a slight difference in the film/bare paint but if i couldve done it again i would've wrapped that entire car.

Now When i received my GT4 i really looked at options. Spoke to my installer/detailer and he highly recommended going with a full wrap. I mulled it over and did some research. I have kids now so it helped in my decision... they absolutely love gliding their hands all over my car and it drives me insane lol.

Anyway, I decided to go with Prestige Films "Clearguard NANO". It's the glossiest and thickest film on the market. It's more expensive then XPEL/Suntek but it's worth it.

Modesta BC-04 was just icing on the cake. I've had Opticoat and CQuartz in the past and Modesta blow them both out of the water.

Accel Junky - Since your in ATL PM Jean-Claude and ask for his input.

I would do it again in a heartbeat. Driving around for a couple days before PPF I got a tiny rock chip and it annoys me. I opted not to with my Range Rover and the front has a bunch of rock chips already with a few thousand miles. I went with Suntek and I can only tell the difference between the parts that are PPF and aren't. If I had to do it again I would do the whole car instead of just the front, rockers and rear bumper. Also it makes washing a lot easier. Griots speed detailer and spray wax for in between washes and you are good to go. Its a no brainer for me, especially if you track your car.

Do I have to remove the GT4 and Porsche logo when applying Xpel on the rear bumper?

Also did you remove the rear and front lamps to tuck the film properly?

For wrapping the whole car, yes to removing front lights, installers can bulk the majority of the car. They cannot perfectly bulk the rear hatch because our wing mounts are not removable without serious wrenching, so you have to have a couple small cutouts in the film (hardly visible).
Not necessary to remove the rear tails. You do need to debadge the rear bumper then have new badges put back on.

Do you mind explaining a little bit more? I am on the fence regarding doing any Xpel but was thinking about high impact areas. Will not track the car but use it often. Why you do not think is good to do it? Even not bumpers, hood and scoops I take it?
Taking delivery very soon and need to decide very soon - tomorrow
...- any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I've got a Spyder with the Track wrap (all front facing stuff) and a GT4 fully wrapped.
Whatever car I get next, I'm getting full wrap.

Love the clean up on the PPF. GT4 has 3 track days on it, and cleans up great.

Wish I'd done the Spyder full as well.

I have the front half wrapped and some other misc areas. Found the first tear from a rock on the hood. Looks like it saved the paint so I would do it again. But now I guess at some point I have to redo the hood?
