On leather any clean up of glue residue should come off easy with a good balanced cleaner (heck, even Goo Gone would work). In alcantara it becomes more of an issue.

If the Gaffers tape is anything like the electrical tape I've been using ($3 red version from Lowes), the adhesive is very benign. I've taken it off after two weeks just to make sure that is the case. I posted this in a different thread, but over the electrical tape I added a red lens repair tape. It's glossier and looks more finished. I didn't want to apply it directly over the alcantara as I wasn't sure if it uses a stronger adhesive than the electrical tape, so rolled it once over the electrical tape. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the tape comments. I was considering looking for a piece of red alcantara and doing a tiny sewing project. Biggest issue is the edges. Lots of options....

For me the stripe is functional. Well it's not at the moment as it's not yet on track, But when doing in car track video with data overlay it makes it much easier to see the wheel position. As it's intended original use....

Hell ya. Wife has us back from Europe that Saturday. Rest. Sunday pack up head to track. All day mom tues then back home for a few days then back out there for San Diego. I'm not cool enough to do the following Monday!!!
