Picked up my new Forgeline GS1R wheels and Bridgestone RE-71R tires this afternoon. The wheels arrived at the dealer this morning, just in time for my DE this weekend (cutting it a little too close for my comfort, but they made it).
What was the cost? I'm considering a set of track wheels but finding that a bit of a challenge (and costly).
Thanks!
They weren't cheap, but my tire/wheel dealer made me a fantastic deal on the package (he asked me to not spread around my price, though). I will say that I was able to get the wheels, tires and TPMS sensors installed for less than the MSRP of the wheels. If you want, I can PM you his info.
The wheels are 19" diameter, 8.5" width front and 10.5" rear. Not sure of the offsets, they are whatever Forgeline has decided to use as standard for the GT4 (I think et50 front and et42 rear). Forgeline had recommended going 9" and 11" widths, but I was concerned about the tires rubbing at those widths, so I went with the slightly narrower wheels.
The tires are 245/40-19 and 285/35-19, which have rolling diameters pretty close to the stock tires.
a lot of issues. but simplistically, in 19" the ideal sizes
9x19 et 50 +/- 2mm
10.5 x 19 et 43-45mm
will others fit? yes.
feel free to try them.
but i can say with good confidence this is it.
at 19" if one chose to run 8.5" BIG MAJOR mistake and dont complain about push.
Hmm that pushes the front wheel outer edge another +17mm from stock, no? That's almost 3/4"! Rear wheel looks like outer edge is in roughly the same spot. Why not an 11" rear at stock offset? Do you need more clearance for 19" in back inside?

i have more than -3 camber. so no doesnt stick out much.
11" in 19 dia is very close the LCA nut. 11/5 makes bigger clearance
20" you dont have that issue
and you need a lot less rubber in rear and a lot more up front. i would run square set up if i can get it to fit front.
stock off set is 50 in rear? i can't remmber.
but 11" et 50 will fit, very tight. i fly over apex and exit berms. i like more clearance. you can get 11" to work but there is no need for htat width . i have 10.5 et 47, 10.5 et 43, 11 et 50. i like the clearanc eof 10.5 et 43 or so. and no difference in cnotact patch compared to 11"
No. They are GS1Rs. Very similar to the GA1Rs, but the rim is different between the spokes -- the GA1R has a step whereas the GS1R is sloped. And, despite what their web site says, they do make the GS1R in 19" sizes (web site says only 18").

They made that size because that is what I ordered. They recommended 11"s, but as you can see in the pics above, that width would rub on the fenders (as it is, the 10.5" width just barely clears). They recommended the same offset for both the 10.5" and the 11" widths (42mm, IIRC).

I provisionally disagree with that statement, for several reasons:
I ran the car on the stock rims (8.5" front, 11" rear) at a DE in April, and did not experience any significant understeer.
The new wheels are same width front but slightly narrower in the rear, which should have the same net effect as staying same in rear and slightly wider front (as you said earlier, going from 11" to 10.5" won't really change the contact patch; likewise, going from 8.5" to 9" wouldn't have much effect either).
Track width in front is now slightly wider, due to the more-aggressive offset up front -- as you can see in the pics, the fronts are now pretty-much flush with the fender, where they were somewhat inset before. From what I have read and heard, small track width changes have a bigger effect than small wheel width changes.
But, I'll find out this weekend and will report back early next week.
