I've spent some time searching this thread for addressing the topic of springs, but haven't found much. I apologize in advance if I missed it.
Is there any kind of consensus on springs for heavy track use? I'm running -3.0 in front, -2.4 in back with Pirelli DH or R7 and I still get more edge wear on my tires than I like. I run the bars at medium front, medium rear. Wondering if stiff springs would improve / more evenly distribute tire wear? I do about 15-20 days a year.
And... my car is still street legal and I do still enjoy the occasional weekend drive. Are stiffer springs going to ruin the car for that?
I progressed through stiffer springs with my 987.1 Cayman S. Along with improved shocks, I had a better track car but definitely a poorer street car. A track car really needs more negative camber to run Hoosiers then you're (or I'm) running. In the neighborhood of -3.5 F and -3.0 R.
@Last_935 not familiar with the rest of your setup running from your Manfrotto.. what are all those connectors and what's the benefit?
The entire unit is from Tackform. They sent it to me for evaluation. The arm is carbon fiber and the entire assembly is high quality. The arm moves the camera forward and down slightly for better placement and ease of access. The cage allows me to add a polarizing filter that can rotate to minimize the dashboard reflection. It also allows me to install and remove the camera without having to readjust the view. All-in-all, I'm very pleased. I also have their windshield mount for my phone as I'm using it for my PTPA.
My camber setup is -3.2 F and -2.4 R , even wear on RE71R at COTA.
I switched tires to Eagle F1 3R (TW 100) , laptime improved but the wear looked uneven (see pictures).
How much more camber do you recommend for Front and Rear based on these pictures. Front Rear New
IMO you will not solve that issue with camber. I did all the usual supension mods then added CMS roll bars which are a LOT stiffer. I run them full hard (5 positions) for track work plus I also run the stiffer Swift spring kit. I have completely even tyre wear and last year backed off from 3.5 deg F to 3.0 F and R. Still even tyre wear and a bit more stable under hard braking. The front of the car in standard form is great for the road but way soft for track. The CS cars run much stiffer springs. it costs a bit to set up, but then you save quite a lot on tyres and you'll have a quicker car in the corners.

I was considering 3Rs but wow, was this just one HPDE day?

I've tracked the supercar 3 and 3r. The 3r has significantly more grip, but are good for about a day.. the 3 is very similar in grip to the RE71, but last longer then the RE71 and a lot longer then the 3r.
