Default PCM w SiriusXM

Sick of me yet guys?! Haha. Sorry for all the questions.

So heres the deal on this one. My build list my dealer showed me has the PCM option. So a couple weeks ago I was talking w him about how to transfer over my Sirius XM from my Audi RS5 and he didnt say anything about not having it etc. said just call sirius and have it transferred. So the more I have been reading up on many threads it seems you need to have the PCM and SiriusXM option for another 1,000$? Which I think is rediculous considering PCM is 2950$. But when you go on Porsche configure and check CDR+(which says it comes w SiriusXM / HD radio) then check the PCM it makes you uncheck the CDR+ so you would assume PCM has Sirius XM? Am I right? Crazy how they have that configured.

Basically my dealer said I had in the car about two weeks ago but def not on the build sheet. Porsche Communication Management (PCM) incl. Navigation Modu 2,965.00 is all thats on there. Just got confirmation it just got done and being ready to ship.

This is not my allocation/took it over bc somebody backed out

PCM does not include Sirius. That is extra. Many of us chose not to get Sirius so as not to have the roof wart antenna.

You don't have Sirius.

I had already replied to you about this when you PMed me before you created this thread -- did you not believe me or were you just hoping I was wrong?

Oh I emailed you man. Didnt get reply yet. Just did it a bit ago. Havnt received anything yet.

So how would I go about getting sirius. I would def have that wart if I did? Heard they did away w it on the GT4's all together and relocated it.

Ugh this makes me mad bc my dealer said dont worry you have it.

There's no way to get Sirius from the factory without the roof wart, and it's still on the roof even on GT4s -- you can see pictures of it in the GT4 picture thread here or in matttheboatman's thread about loving the tall 2nd gear. I haven't learned about any official or aftermarket retrofit kits that use the OEM head unit either, so you'd probably need to replace the entire head unit if you wanted it badly enough.

I definitely know what you mean about frustration with your SA. In fairness, Porsche's configurator doesn't always make it easy to understand the ramifications of various options (I even wrote a post about the non-obvious consequences of choosing or foregoing certain options that surprised a lot of people here), but of course that doesn't change the end result, and in this particular case Sirius is clearly listed in the CDR+ option description and NOT in the PCM description. But as I said in my message, honestly I doubt you'll spend much time listening to the stereo in this car anyway. Good luck!

What about a wifi connection? My sirius is payed till 2018 Im thinkn maybe I can just sync my iphone or ipad and download the Sirius app?

If you have PCM, you have Bluetooth Audio, so if Sirius lets you stream to a mobile device, you could just use that app on your phone and use BT Audio to get it into your head unit. Obviously that will consume cell data and jumping around between radio stations won't be possible from the head unit (though maybe the Next/Previous Track buttons will jump between favorites configured in the app, depending on how the app is coded), but you'd at least get the content you want.

The iPhone and iPad apps are surprisingly good, and the audio quality is better than satellite for many stations. You can see what is playing on every station before tuning to it and whatever is playing will start from the beginning when you do tune to it.

Even better it's free if you have a subscription for another vehicle and no roof wart!

I agree that you are better off with Bluetooth or even get your files on a thumb drive and plug them in the usb. I record hours of music off the internet on to the thumb drive and refresh them regularly. The sound quality is miles better than that watery, garglely crap that is supplied by Sirius on its best day.

Sirius is cool but the fact that car body has to be modified is stupid. I don't use it near enough to grant the cost or wart. Spotify FTW.

Forget compensation. Move on. Get over it. Drive the car.
