Wheel Lug Bolt to Stud Conversion?
Wondering what everyone is using that has converted?
I'm currently looking at the Track Studs / Apex bullet nose but wondered what was preferred as far as a reliable manufacturer, length, etc...
The bullet nose would be great but the hex end are easier to install (no double nut method if you have a hex bit socket).
I'm running them on my E46 M3 and it makes wheel removal and install much easier...I figured this would especially be a plus with PCCB care...
I have no idea what length would be needed for stock GT4 wheels plus a little headroom for a small spacer in the future.
Having a hard time finding black open ended lugs but looks like these may be worth investigating: http://www.rennline.com/Steel-Lug-Nu...02/BALL%20R14/ OR http://www.esetuning.com/ese-tuning-...7r-znnitt.html

I've used MSI studs on my 991 Carrera S and been very happy with them. You do have to double-nut them on, but only to 25 lb-ft with red loctite. They're super-high quality. He supplies to NASCAR and multiple GrandAm/CTSCC race teams.
American-made in good ol' North Carolina.
I use the 52mm Porsche studs.
20.0012 is the part number for the studs
40.0006 is the part number for the 19mm nuts

+1 MSI - serious track studs, as mentioned above used extensively by NASCAR, Grand AM and others. Joe provides great service and advice. Unlike some of the competitors, his have full 14mm of thread buried in hub.
Studs make life so much easier! Less likely to damage the rim barrels and calipers too. Those 20" wheels/tires are a pita to hang with lug bolts.

For studs I would suggest you to go with industry favorites. MSI is a reputable manufacturer. I trust their work. For the BMW you mentioned MSI also makes Turner Motorsport's bullet nose studs

If you are considering our studs I would suggest our 45mm offering. I personally run a 45mm stud in the front on my car with a 10mm spacer and it's perfect, but they still work well and don't stick out too far without the spacer there. Just makes getting the nuts on/off that much easier
If you or anyone else has fitment questions on our studs just shoot me an email Shawn@Rennline.com I have fitted quite a few cars at this point and can recommend appropriate lengths and nuts.

p.s. I have them on my boxster with 20mm spacers. I know they can take up to 25mm spacers.

No problem! And yes I have several GT4 customers who are already running our studs. The 45mm studs will give you room for a 10mm spacer in both the front and rear.

Not to belabor the point, but if I'm not using spacers, and have OEM GT4 rims, I presume the 35mm studs will be just fine, and won't stick out too much (since the "head" is rounded and not threaded)?
thanks,
