Modesta is 100% unique and I guarantee it is not a relabeled product and no one else relabels it as something else. It is completely formulated by Tomo Kashino(a partner) and even bottled in-house. No one other than Modesta has access to Modesta.

About the pricing. One could make the same argument for Porsche VS other cheaper cars. Yet, here we are either owners who paid a premium for a Porsche or ones that look forward to getting one once the budget allows for it. I am the same. I work hard and like to reward myself with automatic watches, fine shoes and clothing, etc. Modesta is an incredible product and it carries a commensurate price. But, at the same time, I believe that it is not the best fit for everyone or every car.

I wasn't implying that Modesta was a re-label - Modesta certainly sounds like a unique product..but I'd bet that if a comprehensive chemical analysis was done, some brands would be largely the same - I've heard as such...BTW, this is not binary: the formulations could be 90-99% the same, and 1-10% unique in some cases.

It just takes one chemist who is a Porsche enthusiast and has some equipment to break down/analyze the compounds ...I suspect a chemist could group the coatings by their general chemical properties, which could also better inform the customers. In fact, we - the consumers - could probably develop learnings about certain formulations, rather than about certain brands....which would be good for us.

In the end, and I should have pointed this out above, I suspect the prep work and maintenance is at least as important as the coating...and I do love my Modesta....I'm just trying to look at this somewhat objectively.

FWIW - I have Opti-Pro+ on my Tesla and it is awesome. Total cost including a bit of paint correction was $700. Now a basic wash - I use Griots Spray On Car Wash - makes the car look awesome. Honestly I think Opti will save you a ton of money in the long run by reducing the number (and cost) of details.

Opti-Pro, Cquartz, Modesta and a few others are all good. You just need to sit with a professional detailer and review the pros and cons of each and than make your decision. My detailer likes Opti-Coat and Cquartz - We did Cquartz on my 991 GT3 and was very happy and will do it again on my GT4. It cost me $1100 for the whole car including windows and also we do Opti-coat on the wheels.- this included paint correction.

I would not go blow $2000 on Modesta. - now that is me.

I hope I didn't infer I thought you meant that. Just speaking out loud.

I think you have a very balanced view on the subject and I agree with you.

No idea about that product, but your post reminded me of this.

Well good news they are refunding me the money back. They put me on the spot. Didnt really have time to do research about the product. But when I look up on youtube or wherever all the reviews are like 5 yrs old. Nothing recent

The biggest reason to use any coating happened today, bird droppings. I couldn't rush fast enough to hit that with water. Left on that stuff is nasty to the paint

Griots sells many items I've found elsewhere and while I have no intimate knowledge of the sourcing, my gut tells me it is repackaged and upcharged for.

Yes, many of Griot's non-chemical items are found elsewhere. I still use their Interior Cleaner as it's cheap and works quite well w/o being harsh.

I would definitely recommend one of the popular nano-coatings discussed in this thread; I've just never heard of that one. The good ones will cost more than $500 though, as I'm sure you're aware if you've read through this thread. Also, if you intend to do any film wrap, do that first, then coat.
