That would be awesome to get some documentation. My dealership says that mother Porsche told them there is no such setting and it's a normal operation the power outlet go off after 30' and if battery voltage drops, then it activates again if you have a charger plugged in the socket. However, this is what happened to me. When I first bought the car, I was programming the PCM for about 45' with the engine off. Then I plugged the new OEM Porsche charger and after few hours, the green light went on and STAYED on. When I opened the door, light went orange and 10' later the stand by light started flashing again. With that being said, if the battery voltage drops significantly and then you plugged in the OEM charger, the socket will STAY on.

I have the same problems as others with late builds. Ctek charger shuts off 30-45 mins after removing key on all outlets. Hope its as simple as getting the dealer to re-program.

Confirmed with another late model build GT4 owner this morning that this can be fixed by reprogramming.

The socket now stays on after 40 minutes vs. turning off before the reprogramming.

He didn't receive a work order documenting the exact procedure but the dealer is Paul Miller Porsche in NJ. Their lead tech will know what programming is needed.

If your techs don't know what to do, have them call this dealer!

Default I talked with Paul Miller Porsche about this...

I talked with Paul Miller Porsche about this... They have had "a fire" of calls
because of this thread, so I thought I'd summarize it and help them avoid
some more calls.

They had found a way, poking around with the Porsche computer programmer,
but there is no document or manual entry for what they did, and unfortunately
they don't remember the exact setting/instructions, but they say that it should
be clear and findable by anyone familiar with the programmer.

From what I understood in the phone call, they set the system to not turn
off the car electrics. The downside is that this includes leaving any/all car
systems imposing their power usages continually, so unless you keep your
car on a charger, the battery might be drained quicker than you'd expect,
just by the car sitting. So apparently there's no hack to *just* expose the
power outlets.

I have worked around the problem by using an OBDII plug to deliver
the charger connection. This connection is never detached by the system
and the charger works indefinitely as expected.

HTH,
Joe

Default Battery Tender

Being a Battery tender fan, I tried to install the BT Quick Disconnect this weekend. I tried to remove the nut from the bolt on positive terminal and stripped the nut. It would just not come out, and then it would not go back in!! I wish I had clipped the round terminal and just inserted. I did this on the negative and will have my shop cut off the positive bolt and replace. I wonder why it is not meant to remove like older Porsche models?

As a funny aside, I dropped my socket behind the battery and under the battery tray!! So I learned how to remove all of these things to get to the socket. A 5 minute job took an hour!!

Will certainly be looking into it and asking the dealer for some programming. Can confirm that on my GT4 # 1 (2015 build) all sockets stayed 'hot', while on my current GT4 (2016 buid) they power down after a few minutes.

Interestingly enough, I ran a couple of tests using different accessories plugged into different outlets (e.g. Escort Max 360 to the footwell outlet and a Bose BT auxiliary device to the glove box), and the glovebox outlet stayed hot significantly longer than the footwell outlet (until it too eventually switched off). Weird...

I have a June 2016 build GT4 and I am able to charge the battery via the 12V outlet from the smokers package option using the Porsche branded charger. Key off and car parked for a couple of days. No timeout or limit experienced using this method. No dealer PIWIS programming or coding requested.

Congrats! I guess it's a running change... I worked around the problem by using
an OBDII adapter for my charger. That connectivity is never interrupted.
Joe

PS: My charger is a NOCO Genius g3500. I am just a happy customer because
when I described the problem to me, they sent me the OBDII adapter for free!

My car was delivered to me in early August and the Porsche charger works fine when connected to the passenger side footwell outlet without turning off. No reprogramming was done as far as I am aware. I can check on the exact build date, but it was either June 2016 or July 2016.

May build and the outlet in the smoking package is live when car is off, so the GT4 gets a full CTEK maintenance cycle

What are the options on the car?
I have a feeling that it is relevant with the options.

Interesting, i have a recent build, basically 0 option (well functional options) car... with cig lighter. No SC radio, etc etc.

I've a CTEK plugged into the passenger footwell, it's working, and on and cycling like it does on my other cars...

Will swing by the garage today and see again.

I wonder if it is the smoking package that ads permanently switched on outlets

I do not have the smoking package and my outlet in thr passenger footwell works when the car is off and does not turn off or "cycle" as others have described. The Porschd/Ctek charger works as intended.
