Default My GT4 ramblings

My GT4 is at status V300 – vehicle completion as of Saturday 1/27/16 with expected delivery around March 11th , it’s starting to feel real now. I’ve been a life long Porschephile. Started my Porsche experience when I placed my order for a 2001 Boxster S.
I convinced myself at that time that I was just getting 1 Porsche. Well fast forward to 2016 and having ordered 8 Porsches later( various C2S, C4S, 997 turbos,GT3), Now I’m excited about the arrival of what I feel is going to be my milestone Porsche. Not because it’s the most expensive (my loaded 997 turbo 6spd) or fastest ( 997 GT3 6spd) but the last of an era. To me Porsches have normally aspirated flat6 engines where you can opt for a manual transmission and have that distinct wail from the exhaust. I’m not opposed to PDKs, I have a Huracan with a DCT and I just love that combination but the thought of the possibility of the mid engine normally aspirated flat6 with a manual transmission being a swan song for that configuration motivated me to get a GT4. I hope Porsche decides to continue with normally aspirated motors and offer a manual transmission for those who want one in the future but at least I know I’ve got a keeper that reflects the true spirit of Porsche and it’s Motor Sports group.

I Decided to start just one post to log updates with my GT4 experiences, nothing exciting since I’m not a track junkie, Just a few DE events and weekend drives.

Can’t believe the difference from last winter when we got 60” of snow. It was 45 degrees yesterday so I decided to take the cover off the Huracan and went for a long drive up to ME.
Just love the off season when the traffic is lite. Here’s some pics and a list of my build option. The next time we drive this route will include the GT4

I do but the Huracan steering wheel is by DCT motorsports if that's what your referring to.

That would be way too innovative for Porsche.
They'd rather hide their Gulf Orange under the covers of the mostly unavailable PTS program.

I tried really hard for a PTS Maritime Blue but the window was closed at the time of my allocation.

I bought the Spyder on a whim. It is the most fun car I've had in a long time

I can only imagine the 4 will be just as good!

Great build and ramblings. I confirmed that my GT4 starts "production" February 19 with an estimated April 15 dealer delivery. Mine is more basic: JBM, Platinum W & I, GR belts, LWBs. About $92k+. I am growing anxious.

This GT4 and a few other to come (e.g. RS) are the last of the breed. I sat and discussed the new 4C 718s that start showing up in dealerships in March/April - sad really. This is my 3rd Pcar and I am sure I will own more in the future, but this is the one I hope I always own.

No pdls for you? Im debating whether or not I wanna keep it on my build. Love the swiveling headlights but the more I see the washers referred to as nipples, the less I want em.

WonderWagon - I was at Plano/Boardwalk Porsche last week and looked at NIPPLES on a GT4 and Spyder in stock. Nipples, which ordinarily I love, were grotesque to my eye on these clean cars. I have a GR 991.1C2S 7MT and it has PDLS - no big deal on that car. For the GT4 I am keeping to my purpose built aesthetic: no wart for satellite and no nipples for washer fluid spray on headlights. For the exterior, I want as few interruptions to the design as possible. Hell, I was one of the idiots that was going radio delete but my SA talked me out of it as he said it saves maybe 5 lbs. so at least have a little music. As for the interior, I am just focusing on the driving experience and not too much other stuff because the only thing I will really miss from the 911, is the Burmester!

Let me explain another related issue - the painted to match nipples are HUGE. They are simply covers over the "chrome" standard nipples so the painted ones are about twice the normal "chrome" ones on my 911.
