On the plus side that sound will get the person next to you to interrupt their cell usage.

Wrap in color or clear?

Paint is perfect factory new (or as good as it was when it went in) but if you do a wrap, pay for the best place. I have seen everything from razor cuts in the clearcoat to edges lifting to direct paint damage done in the wrap process from inexperienced installers.
When wrap comes off needs a detail/wax/buff as some adhesive normally gets left behind.
On a full wrap a good shop essentially disassembles the car. Place I use has a porsche certified dude do the disassemble/assemble. They even pull the windows and trim to roll every edge. Looks like a satin paint job.
And I have had large sharp objects hit the film at speed, got out thinking no way did the paint not get chipped. Wrap took all the damage and paint was perfect. They even "self heal" to an extent by pouring hot water on damaged bit.
keep in mind color change vinyl wraps are way thinner(and offer much less paint protection) than a gloss or satin "paint protection film"

+1 AfricanHunter! Regular wrap is about 3mils and varies in thickness by manufacturer and type (color v. CF). PPF is much thicker as AH says--a completely different product. PPF is also put on wet, and worked with a steamer. Vinyl wrap is usually put on dry, and worked with a heat gun. The best applicators are magicians and you should check references, and see their work before you commit. Be prepared to pay a lordly sum for a wonderful piece of art. Remember, PPF and wrap is an alternative finish for your car, just like paint. Would you cover your car with a $2000 paint job?
Also, I have removed CF wrap from a 987 hood after 2 years, and the paint was as nice, and clean, as the day I applied the wrap. No adhesive residue either.

I have a scratch mark on my wrap that I can feel with my fingernail, how hot would the water need to be ?
TIA

You can find horror stories if you search the interweb, but the two people I've had install PPF both said, when asked your question, never had a problem. And they have done a ton of cars. This was in context of PPF applied over OEM paint. Aftermarket paint is another kettle of fish.
