was it easy to remove the original cover? I understand you can't reuse them?

If you have the proper tool it's a piece of cake. I didn't damage the last one I did, so I don't think there would be any problem reusing them

Easy. The eBay add has photo instructions.
Looks like the original convers are reusable.

The salesman removed my red eBay covers and installed them on my new keys. Put the new key covers on the old keys. Worked once. I'm not sure if you could do it multiple times.

Yup, you could plenty of times if careful. Done that a few times on both my blue and red GT4.

You absolutely can, just be careful. The tabs aren't that fickle as one might think.
