Default Front lip clearance?

My Targa GTS barely makes it into the garage without scraping its front lip. I measured the clearance at the very front and it's about 6.5 inches.

Could someone with a GT4 mind letting me know what their clearance is?

Thanks!

Many threads on this subject, search and you will find them. Given what you have said though, the GT4 will scrape though (think height of an iPhone type clearance).

Mine is 4 5/8" at the side in front of the tire and 4 9/16" right at the front center of the lip.

Have you tried backing in? You might have more clearance that way.

I did look but didn't originally find one. However, suitably chastised by you ( ), I took another look and found this thread:

https://rennlist.com/forums/gt4/8797...opy-paste.html

...which says it's 11 cm / 4.33"

On the reversing in thing, my geometry skills are failing me and I can't quite think this through: would it make any difference? Meaning, wouldn't the front scrape on the way out instead of the way in? It might be easier to add some ramps for getting out.

I know some people will think this is dumb but how low the car is to the ground is definitely a significant downside to it. I live in Oakland and the roads are...well...like you'd probably imagine.

Thanks for the info.

It's the overhang more than the clearance that creates the issue.

You'd be surprised though - of all the places that I drive, the only place that I scrape is on my driveway...

Bardman wanted me to tell you that someone did a CAD drawing that shows how that idea might function and posted it here on RL. HTH

Yeah, I noticed that when I borrowed a friend's GT4 (very generous friend!) I've got base Cayman right now and the GT4's nose looks so much longer!

Wow, that would be great! I hate the idea of ordering a ramp and not know if it'd work. Do you know where I'd get the CAD drawing from?

You will scrape. Buy some race ramps. I needed two sets to get in and I still scrape.

Just curious, how tall is the black front lip at the front, center point?

This tall

And this tall

J/k. There's a bunch of posts that have the height down to a millimeter on RL and I don't know, never measured it once I realized I was screwed no matter what.

As others have mentioned, it's the length of the overhang as well that's the issue. Height itself is meaningless.

If I recall the approach angle is 6 degrees. the official specs for height overhang and approach angle are posted somewhere in this forum if you can find it via search.
