Do our suspensions "settle" over time? (Pics)
Met up with my twin car chewy80753 and 9elheven today and had a quick photoshoot.
Chewy took delivery is August and is the car on the right. I'm on the left (delivery two weeks ago).
I noticed immediately that my car was at least 1/2" higher measured from the bumper on a flat driveway.
What gives?

Wow that's pretty noticeable! Could it be the Dunlops? I've always thought Michelins looked a little balloony relative to other tires of the same size. Then again the wheel gap looks about the same.

Chewy (lower car) has Dunlops and I have Michelins. He could also have a body in the frunk, he is from NJ after all...

The tire diameter is the same. For a reference measure from the ground through the center-line of the front wheel to the fender. .
For accurate ride height there are locations on the body per the service manual. The car does settle some what mine did by about 1/4". There is a difference in height between an empty and full tank of gas. carl

That way you take the tire out of the equation. Mine is 24 3/4 front and
25 7/16 rear. carl

I think it's might also be the angle of the photo. The camera is not dead center between them. You see the center intake on the left car, but not the right car. Plus the right car is closer to the camera than left car. Wheel gap between them looks the same.

Maybe there was something with the driveway, I don't know...

Suspension settling is a bit of a myth, in my opinion. Maybe within the first few miles of installing new springs, you could potentially see the dampers settle into their travel - but a car 2 weeks into ownership shouldn't have a stance any different from another. Your wheel gaps look identical. I'm guessing this is a weird parallax issue.
