I think 10% on a confirmed allocation is ok. Especially if the car is sold @msrp! Dealers have buyers lined up to buy these cars. Saves a lot of hassle for the dealer if someone walks. Less likely someone will back out if you out 10grand down.

If I was a dealer I would do the same. Must be frustrating sitting on a car that was specced by someone that walked. ( when you could have sold it 10 times over)

Forgot to ask wife...
Something came up....

Just spoke with SA. They're holding firm on 10% down unfortunately.

Good news is, it's an MSRP only allocation; no premium BS.

Still thinking about, will have to decide by Saturday latest!

Be sure to nail down the OTD before sending the money.

You may be blindsided by unexpected "dealer fees" on signing day.

What is OTD ?

After sending the SA my build code, he already sent me the complete pricing breakdown including all fees ... I'm hoping there won't be any surprises beyond that?

Out the door. Everything you just mentioned. Sounds like you are covered.

I paid a $1k refundable deposit with car @ MSRP at Dealer #1. A second dealer called simultaneously and wants $5k...he didn't say refundable/nonrefundable nor specify MSRP, but I'm fairly sure it is refundable and at MSRP. Please, honey, can I have both? I never paid anything to get on any list...just maintained contact without being a pest, especially with Dealer #1.

k997, If it's an MSRP build and no BS fees, then do it. 10% down just reduces what you owe when the car comes in anyway.

You will love the car guaranteed! If you don't, someone will take it off your hands at no loss to you.

If you can't put 10% down (and I'm sure you can), then you shouldn't be buying one anyway.
