Default LWB's and the wife

My wife is extremely uncomfortable in the passenger side LWB. The lack of backrest adjustment and minimal padding makes her uncomfortable for any rides over a half hour. Any suggestions to make the seat more comfortable? She had the same issues in the GT3RS LWB.

No jokes nor inappropriate comments please.

Thanks

Rick

Trade?

Jokes aside, I'm curious to hear also. I don't have LWBs because of these concerns for kids/wife. Turned out not to be an option...

Buy a standard seat. You can try lots of half fixes but none of them will be as effective and simple as changing the seat.

Same boat here. I was in the midst of debating with my wife, but Porsche made the decision for me (her).

Any for OP, obviously you can try extra pillow(s) for additional lumbar and/or butt support. Obviously not an ideal or very effective solution but short of changing the seats I can't think of anything else that can be done.

Padded seat cover? Have cushions stuffed? Maybe a lower seat pad?

I have a bad L5 disk and while I find the LWB's comfortable in my GT3 and have ordered them in my GT4, I know that when you find a seat uncomfortable, that general does not change with bandaids. I'd focus on remedying the specific areas that she finds uncomfortable and try the bandaids above. If that doesn't work, maybe find a set of take out sofas and install the passenger seat only. May look silly, but I would live with silly to make my wife happy. Last resort is swap for sofas. You'll have no issues finding anyone to do that. I hope you find a workable solution short of bucket swap.

If your buckets are black and red I will give you my 2 way sofas plus cash!

I have lightweight buckets in my 987 Spyder and I have a custom made drop in cushion for my wife. Any fab shop can make one and in the dame fabric as the car seat thus it looks normal to the casual looker. My wife can then put it in either seat. We are over 70 and took the Spyder to the Monterey Parade with no issues

This has been recommended by a few people over on the GT3 forum: http://www.tempurpedic.com/cushions/...barcushion.asp. There's a travel size too; not sure which is a better fit for LWBs.

^^^^^This is a good idea.

My wife finds the LWBS very comfy. She also likes them because I have to come around to her side and help her out of the car.

That should be the marketing slogan: "LWBs: Chivalry is back!"

When I used to have Sparco racing buckets in my car, she had the same issue. We ended up using extra lumbar pillows from Sparco and that seem to work. I would just find out where she needs support or cushioning and either get custom made ones or use the readily available temperpedic or ones from Sparco or Recaro.

The fact that the seat back does not recline is probably the biggest issue.
With the LWB seats the seating position is quite upright, and extremely uncomfortable for me and for most people that like their seat backs in a reclined position.
Secondly, the LWB seats have very poor lumbar support so a nice lumbar cushion would help a lot.
Best suggestion so far is to buy yourself a used, standard 2 way or 18 way seat, if you really want to make her happy and comfortable.

Other than looking cool, I have yet to run into one person that thinks these seats are comfortable other than when on the track and not thinking about it.

Unless this is your track car most of the time, swap the seats out for the much better and more comfortable sofa's.

Happy wife= happy life.

You haven't run into too many people then. If you peruse the LWB threads in the GT3, several owners find them more comfortable than the sofas that some of them also have in other Porsches, even for multi-hour drives.
