Are the GT4 Wheels Forged?
Moved this from another thread...
Can anyone confirm if the GT4 wheels are truly forged?
I believe AP mentioned that they were forged in the first Evo interview and then this also appeared in many initial pre-launch descriptions.
However... I can't see anywhere on the Porsche site that confirmed they are forged, nor in the Suncoast parts description. The term 'light alloy' is used a lot (In the configuration, tech specs, and the catalog).

Maybe check the GT4 brochure to see if it's specified there? I'd trust AP's word over Porsche print material any day of the week, though, considering the number of errors we've already seen in the manual and Technik document.
If nothing else, Suncoast's $6K price tag for a set would be another clue. That's a stiff price even considering the Porsche and GT taxes for a set of non-forged wheels. Hell, the forged 19s on my M3 are "only" ~$4K/set, compared to $1200/set for trackworthy APEX 18x10 flow-formed wheels.

Found this on the 991 GT3 press release info. pack - but nothing on GT4:
The wheels, developed from scratch, round off the package of measures for further improve -
ment of driving dynamics. Compared with the 19-inch wheels of the previous model, the
current 20-inch GT3 wheels are not just one inch bigger, but also half an inch wider at the
front. The tires on the front axle are also wider. The new 911 GT3 therefore rolls on wheels
of size 9 J x 20 with sports tires 245/35 ZR 20 on the front axle, and size 12 J x 20 with
sport tires 305/30 ZR on the rear axle.
The wheels are made of forged aluminium for the first time, resulting in low weight and high
strength. In spite of the dimensions, the total weight of the wheels including special UHP
tires (Ultra High Performance) is less than that of the previous model. This reduces not only
the vehicle weight, but also unsprung mass to enhance driving dynamics. Again, the wheels
come with a central locking system, which has been optimized further.

Hmmm...
Monroni states 'light alloy'
Brochure states 'painted'
Manual doesn't say anything from what I can see
I can't find a single piece of Porsche literature that says 'forged' which is interesting, especially given the price, as noted.
Maybe they were forged in Mount Doom and Porsche is under a strict NDA

That's true. Surprisingly so.
When I coated the wheels last week I'm pretty sure there were no stamps or marks on the barrel, but there were random stampings on the back of some of the spokes which I didn't read. My guess at the moment is cast but expensive

Could be those on the back of the spokes. It'll have TUV marks, the Japanese equivalent, etc. as well as whether they're forged. I've had a bunch of forged wheels (Porsche OEM, BBS, HRE, etc.) and all of them had "FORGED" stamped on them somewhere. Not saying it's definitive, but it certainly helps.

German manual also says light alloy, but nothing about forged.
