Since when? The RIV doesn't have this as a requirement, so as a CDN I can buy whatever I want from the US and register it right away here. (well with a 1 week waiting period).

The problem with buying a Porsche and importing it into Canada is:
-the current exchange rate will kill you
-need to pay 6.2% duty on the CDN dollar value
-pay other fees and then 5o top it off pay 13%tax.
Not worth it.

Either way, passionate people not able or willing to line your pockets with the markup lose out on truly doing the car justice and driving it and enjoying it. Hence, a waste of an allocation. Put your flame suit on if you're gonna promote your marked up car here. You're talking to people who really love this car and want it to be loved by its owner.

I'm one of those waitlisters myself, still on the list for a GT4 and RS.

Yes, I believe he couldn't get a premium for it so he decided to keep it

Hey, just wanted to clear up the concerns with the warranty not being transferable... See the attached documents:

Document 1:
Porsche Canada website, "the warranty will be honoured by any global Porsche Centre."

Document 2:
Porsche USA website, "Warranty can be claimed from any Porsche partner across the world. *applies to vehicles purchased and registered in the USA and Canada"

Document 3:
Warranty booklet US (Canadian one not online but says the same thing) "parts will be repaired or replaced within the terms and limitations of the warranty for new Porsche vehicles for your model year in effect in the country where such authorized Porsche automobile dealers are located." The US and Canadian warranties are identical.

In addition to this, a letter will be provided from PCNA Wednesday for the buyer.

I totally get peoples sentiments regarding the waste of an allocation if I were in their shoes I'd probably feel similar.
