LOL, whenever a sales person tells me anything, I assume it is said for the sole purpose of enticing me to purchase a car from that salesperson and that any intersection between the statement and the truth is purely accidental.
Try to find a low milage return. If you plan to keep it get a CPO. I looked at two trade in cars in the 200 mile range. If you can get one at MSRP with CPO that's a win to me.
Salesman are trying to get you on his buyer's list.
While his wording has piqued your interest he also hasn't promised you anything and told you no lies. The result is that you want to periodically go back to him for more updates. Saves him a lot of effort to line the punters up beforehand.
Nothing better for a salesman than to develop a clientele list to his advantage when the next great car is announced. He can then go back to Porsche and say he has demand for said cars.

I am one of those super-late comers to the game and have pretty much given up getting this car in the standard way of ordering it.
Then, one of the salespersons at the local dealer recently told me that they may get allocations for 2017 GT4.
Am I being played around with a sale pitch or is this a legitimate news?

now who is your local dealer, i know EVERYONE of the sales in nor cal. 80% of them eat **** thus they are full of it. feel free to tell what i think of them. most of them agrees with me they should change their diet.
if you want a car, call out of state would be your best choice.
if you want $25000+, pls check with carlsen porsche, they have allocation at that special price.
It is so funny that I am doing the exact thing that Perimeter pointed out

I don't have a budget to allow $20K markups on top of MSRP. I gotta start calling dealers outside state.
My second GT4 is being produced in June and it's a 16? Normally June production would be the next year a 17.
Yesterday the dealer gave me an est trade in of 83 . RY stl brk 2ways auto heat Sirius silver wheels. The car has 4700 on it . Told them it will have about 6k in the end of July . Will sell it myself in July for 85k MSRP 89. Carl
I picked up my GT4 today (pics will come soon, was too busy driving ) and during the process, I had a brief talk with the manager.
We were just talking about how rare the GT4s are going to be, and he said that he has already heard from Porsche that there will be no 2017 GT4s. This is the first I have heard of this, but he was quite adamant that this was the only model year for this car.
Also, in lower mainland (which is the greater metro area surrounding Vancouver, Canada), we will be getting ~40 GT4s in total. If any of you Vancouver people are out there, let's all meet up for a coffee!
Hit up "driveopolis" on IG...he's active with a group of GT4s already.
ETA...just noticed the necrothread. You may already have hooked up with him.

Besides what Mooty says, there were some local dealers selling their remaining allocations below $20k over market fairly recently, so I'd at least make some local calls before you deal with the hassle of out of State. Not saying you won't pay a premium, just that it might not be much different than what you find out of State.
keep calling around. people abandon their allocations all the time. Although the window may be closing soon you can possibly find some June builds that are still configurable.

I am planning to do so this week as my last effort to get an allocation instead of pursuing 2nd hand GT4. I spent much of my afternoon calling different out-of-state dealers yesterday, and I thought I was going to get one. I believe that it is available somewhere (I hope).

Someone had mention that GT4 production is going into July and there just might be few more allocations out there.
