Just picked up my Saphire Blue with Yellow stitching and I'm loving this car. No way it stays under 4k RPM on break in. I am trying to keep it under 5k
I have a prototype of one sitting on the shelf in lexan. Once I saw how pitted and yellow they get, we never installed it. I know of a guy in Indy who can get more.

Damn. Good point. I'm assuming once installed it would be a hassle to take off if you needed to clean it
Can we add Lambo hinges to the list? I want my doors to go up.
haha, but in all seriousness someone said the GT4s engine wouldn't look that pretty given how it's setup. I'm going to give this a thumbs down either way but to each is own.
One thing that always bugged me about the 981 clear engine covers is that the engine is both askew (on a longitudinal axis) and off-kilter. I'm not sure if that's necessary for boxer engines, but it doesn't make the for the most attractive look IMHO.
First of all, congratulations on the car. Really stunning. Mine which is on the boat is the same color. Glad I went with that car.
I was one of those people who installed one of these on my old 987 Cayman and it was OK. Only complaint that it was a bit load at times and unless the engine was dressed up and clean, it was not always pretty to look at. Plus at night it was hard to see anything. But overall I was pleased with the cover and used it for over 3 years.
Does anyone know if the engine cover size of the 987 is the same as the 981. Mark
I installed one of these on my 987.1 S and I would advise you to pass.
Unless you are putting this in a dedicated track car (where you don't care about noise) you will likely find it too loud for daily use. Even on a weekend car, unless you are driving windows down on back roads, you will find it gets old fast. It makes the cabin boomy especially on the highway.
I had my mechanic do a custom LED lighting job to go with it and he also installed a switch under the ebrake to kill the lights in the event that I wanted to be more low key (if pulled over by police or maybe driving to a business meeting). It looked great and I thought to myself why didn't Porsche sell the car this way? The missing piece is the panel which would insulate the cabin from the rear compartment just like on other Supercars that have a clear engine cover. Without this, you here an immense amount of intake noise. You'll smile and giggle the first few drives but it will quickly become too much. Shouting will be required to have a conversation and the Bluetooth phone calls are off the table.
