GT4 Clear Engine Cover?

That is one clean install on the 987.1 Ajjra!
I never had a clear cover but I can confirm that the noise gets old very fast without any insulation over the engine. I had to drive around for a while with the foam off but the metal cover still on for easy access and it was very annoying.

I would think that clear cover will collect fog/moisture etc since its sealed off, I don't have that issue in the Lambo because its well vented and the moisture and sweat can evaporate. How ez is it to open that cover if you want to wipe it down?

I have lots of reservations about this, including:
1. The engine cover on the 981 is not intended to come off in the same way as the 987 engine cover. This means, for example, that the plastic interior trim goes over the cover in the 981, not under the cover as in the 987.
2. The interior noise level rises, but quite a few db.
3. As shown in the images, the engine isn't designed to be seen like Audi R8, Lambo or Ferrari.
4. I used to remove the engine cover on my 987 about 4 times a year, and that engine gets DIRTY! Lost of dust and general road spray, etc gets all over the engine. I wouldn't think it would look good unless you clean it all the time, which might be harder given 1. above.
But if someone does it, I'd love to see photos!

The GT4 engine was not intended to be displayed and it is not that pretty. It may have the "cool" factor in the beginning but I think it will wear off pretty quickly

I had a 981 CS and looked a lot for one of these. Only saw 987s. The hoses on top need to be moved. Maybe a better approach is to install mirrors on the sides to see it from the bottom!
Speaking of mods...I'm still looking for a mono-wiper conversion kit!

Interesting project going on by a member at P9: http://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-a...ml#post2032721
I'm cautiously optimistic. HIP decided it did not make sense for 981 (could have been demand-driven rather than feasibility, though).

I installed one of these on my 987.1 S and I would advise you to pass.
Unless you are putting this in a dedicated track car (where you don't care about noise) you will likely find it too loud for daily use. Even on a weekend car, unless you are driving windows down on back roads, you will find it gets old fast. It makes the cabin boomy especially on the highway.
I had my mechanic do a custom LED lighting job to go with it and he also installed a switch under the ebrake to kill the lights in the event that I wanted to be more low key (if pulled over by police or maybe driving to a business meeting). It looked great and I thought to myself why didn't Porsche sell the car this way? The missing piece is the panel which would insulate the cabin from the rear compartment just like on other Supercars that have a clear engine cover. Without this, you here an immense amount of intake noise. You'll smile and giggle the first few drives but it will quickly become too much. Shouting will be required to have a conversation and the Bluetooth phone calls are off the table.
That said, I have one for a 987.1 for sale ;-)
