Wing Supports - Black or Silver?
Have a Jet Black Metallic on Black on order. Thoughts on black vs. silver wing supports? My gut tells me the black wing supports might be better, but haven't seen either in person. Thoughts? Thanks

Wing Supports in Black
The GT4 at the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta has black wing supports:

I am going with black.

I went with silver hoping to anodize them to match the platinum wheels but they seem pretty plastic-y, especially the bottom mount attached to the hatch. Least of my worries tho since this will be a great peice to look for aftermarket. Aside from the cheapish looking paint they just look overall horrible. Someone will offer RS style options, I'm sure.

Black may be cheap, but silver is worse:
Very few people here have ordered silver supports, and very GT4s for which pictures are available have silver supports, and I think there's a very good reason for that. I've personally only seen them on this press car from Motor Trend's GT4 First Drive Gallery (seemingly the only press car anywhere that had silver supports, more pictures in the broader context of the car in that gallery) and some Guards Red GT4 somewhere. I am not a fan in either case. It just draws so much attention to the "scaffolding" of the car at the cost of focusing on the wing itself and the other painted surfaces of the car IMHO -- and I say that even though I'll be getting silver wheels. Silver supports on a dark paint color would look even more jarring and awkward. The only exception might be on a black GT4 if you wanted to avoid the murdered out look (and were also getting silver wheels for that reason), but even then I'm not sure. Also keep in mind the rest of the rear of the car. The "Porsche" and "GT4" lettering will both be black no matter what, as will the rear diffuser, and the tail lights are tinted. The supports are literally the only silver element that will be visible from the rear of the car.
Black should have been the default color IMHO, and judging by the makeup of the press fleet and almost everyone's order, it seems Porsche has realized that too.

As you can see from the pictures, the silver supports are coated as well. If it were exposed brushed aluminum or black painted aluminum, it might be another story, but that's not the deal. I still think the choices should have been exposed brushed aluminum or black powdercoated aluminum, either way with the slightly rough native texture of the metal.
