Might be doing the Chris Harris mods with sway bars right away. He softened the front and stiffened the rear right? I'll have to go watch that again.

That said I'm going to try the stock for a little bit while I get used to the car. Some of it could be down to the alignment as well. My Lotus has a far more aggressive alignment (twice the camber despite having double wishbones which gain camber under compression).

I can only surmise that Porsche tuned the car with a bit of understeer for safety reasons. Walter Rohl prefers the middle but he is a far smoother driver than me.

 

I've seen the GT4 (stock) driven hard by a good driver at the last regional Porsche Event this weekend and it didn't look anything like that. It looked like pretty much any Cayman extremely well balanced with a very neutral behavior. So there is something more to this story than just the stock setup.

 

It just seems like a bit of Top Gear style editing to me. The lap for time is probably done properly, and then they get their money shots later with the car drifting around corners.

No reason to believe they are the same.

Except in this case "money shots" = massive understeer.

 

I noticed the understeer as well. I am sure it is down to alignment and car set-up. Just small set-up differences can make a huge difference in car handling performance. At least that has been my experiences with my 996 GT3 and 991 GT3. I don't see why this car would be any different.

 

Most probably, I would be surprised if that was the fastest lap.
Still to match the 458 and be half a sec faster than the GTR
